Former PRIDE FC phenom and UFC Light Heavyweight Rameau-Thierry Sokoudjou has reportedly been released by the UFC. While he became an instant star in the Japanese promotion, his … Read more

Chris Leben disappoints

by: Jack Bratcher

Those who watched UFC 89 were bound to notice the improved physique of one Chris Leben. His main event bout against Michael Bisping was an inspiring performance where he looked calm and relaxed and constantly pushed the pace throwing the bombs he’s known for. However, Bisping out-pointed the Hawaiian transplant with a defensive, elusive and tactical gameplan.

Much ado was made recently about Leben maturing as a fighter and as a person. Gone are the days of the self-destructive alcoholic punker spritzing on the pillows of his fellow TUF cast members. “Maturity” was the new catch word for Leben. Apparently, he’s moved on and picked up some new more “adult” vices.

Dana White disappointed with Brandon Vera

by: Jack Bratcher
When Brandon Vera entered the UFC he stated that he wanted to first win the Heavyweight Title and then move down in weight and take the Light Heavyweight Title as well, being the only person to hold both belts at the same time. After back to back defeats at heavyweight he moved down to light heavyweight and now it seems even the lighter half of his dream is fading further away. Vera gave up a split decision loss to Keith Jardine Saturday night, October 18, in Birmingham, England.

UFC 89 Predictions – CB’s Picks

by:  Cory Brady

Michael Bisping Vs. Chris Leben
This one is very interesting because the winner is very likely to get a shot at Anderson Silva’s title sometime in the very near future. From the pictures and training footage I’ve seen on Chris he looks to be in the best shape of his life and seems to have really rededicated himself to fighting since his move to Hawaii. Leben is tenacious and always seems one punch away from a KO victory while Bisping is extremely well rounded with solid wrestling and submission skills with very sharp and technical striking. They always say styles make fights and well, this is one of those fights. Both fighters are hungry to prove that they are among the best at 185 and will likely waste little time before turning this one into a skillful brawl. I feel like both of these guys will be gunning for the knockout so I would expect most of the fight to be a fast paced stand up affair. While Leben’s punches seem to be the more powerful of the two it will not make a big difference in this fight. Look for Bisping to land clean straight shots from the outside while avoiding Leben’s wide and powerful punches on his way to a second round TKO victory.
