Dana White releases frustrations via Twitter

It’s no secret that Dana White’s disdain for veteran referee Steve Mazzagatti has been anything but hush-hush within the media, but now the brash UFC President has been able to vent his frustrations elsewhere-via the infamous social network, Twitter.

Over the past few months, White has focused most of his attention come fight time inside the cage, rightfully so, but not just on his athletes.

In his most recent escapades, Dana was able to attend the UFC’s sister promotion, the WEC, this past Saturday night. The event was held in White’s backyard of Las Vegas, Nev., at The Palms Hotel Resort and Casino, and featured the promotion’s 45th installment, with “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone headlining opposite the flashy Ed “9mm” Ratcliff.

Lesnar-Carwin postponed; Ortiz-Griffin to headline UFC 106

Brock Lesnar will not be defending his UFC Heavyweight Title against Shane Carwin in the UFC 106 main event on Nov. 21. Instead, former light heavyweight champions Forrest Griffin and a returning Tito Ortiz will collide in a headlining rematch.

UFC reports indicate Lesnar has been ill for nearly a month and has not been able to train. Carwin, via Twitter even mentioned the possibility of the champ having swine flu. However, UFC President Dana White has indicated he does not believe Lesnar has the H1N1 virus.

It looks like the Lesnar vs. Carwin fight will be rescheduled for some time early 2010. Jan. 2 has been mentioned as a possible date, which if the case, would put the fight as the headliner for UFC 108.

Photo: Sherdog - "The Hammer's" win over Stephan Bonnar proves he can still compete at a high level.

According to that great source of worldwide news that allows instant updates from anyone and everyone – Twitter, Tito Ortiz has confirmed Mark Coleman has pulled out of their UFC 106 bout scheduled for Nov. 21 in Las Vegas.

Here are Tito’s two unedited tweets once he learned of the failed fight:

Colman, colman, colman to bad he sissies out!!!! Who’s NEXT?

Coleman, coleman, coleman to bad he sissies out!!! Who’s next??? I’m kicking someone’s ass on Nov 21st!

As an Editor I cringe just a bit at the spelling, but frankly who cares about spelling when you’re a millionaire, right?

“Oh yea and welcome back Tito” -Dana White

UFC President Dana White loves Twitter. Anyone who has seen a recent UFC event knows this. Since White has joined the Twitter family, he has broken some major news through the 140-word limit cult phenomenon that makes chatting between mobile phones and Internet users very convenient.

Today White dropped another bomb on the MMA world. With six words and a smiley (yes the President of a billion dollar company uses smileys), White announced the return of former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz to the UFC. At least that is how we are interpreting it. You decide for yourself. Here is the actual Tweet from White:

Georges St. Pierre knocks out Thiago Alves

Georges St. Pierre must be extremely focused for his upcoming bout against Thiago “Pitbull” Alves at UFC 100 because according to his most recent “tweet,” the champ is dreaming about the no. 1 welterweight contender.

The psychology of dreams is extremely fascinating. Since the beginning of time people have been trying to understand the strange happenings of the dream world. Dr. Melfi tried to help Tony Soprano interpret a dream where a stork flies off with his penis. A friend of mine once told me about a gang of David Letterman midgets chasing him down an alley.

GSP’s recent dream did not have anything to do with storks, penises, or David Letterman, but it is interesting nonetheless. For one thing, GSP does not tweet very often. His past four tweets were Mar. 9, Mar. 23, June 5, and June 25. So for him to even tweet this message is pretty significant.
