Two fights added to “King of the Cage Japan: Toryumon” set for January 30

OKINAWA – Two additions have been added to the KOTC Japan card set to take place at the Okinawa Convention Center January 30, 2010. The first addition is a Heavyweight match-up featuring Scary Jerry Vrbanovic (USA) vs. Koji Kanechika (Japan).

Scary Jerry Vrbanovic the Crazy Croation’s last fight was way back in 2004 in the King of the Cage. Scary Jerry is known for his “take a punch to deliver two” attitude, which makes for an action packed heavyweight slug-fest.  Scary Jerry wants his fans to know he is back and will represent the USA proudly! His opponent Koji “Takauji” Kanechika representing Japan comes into the cage with a 4-2 record and a 3 fight winning streak.

The second additional fight added is the women’s bantamweight bout between Roxanne Modafferi (13-5 ) and Molly Helsel (8-8). Roxanne is a veteran of Strikeforce, who brings in an impressive record of 13 wins and 5 losses. Roxanne said in a recent interview “I hope it’s a brawl, I’m in the mood”.

PRO MMA ( was notified earlier this week from the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts of their first-ever rankings for female mixed martial artists. As female mixed martial arts gains more notoriety and popularity, the more important the rankings become. Also, the fact that Zuffa and the UFC do not have female fighters, means the WAMMA female title-holders will have even more legitimacy than their male counterparts. Lashley wins MMA debut, “The Snowman” defeats Rodriguez

Bobby Lashley won his MMA debut Saturday night in Miami, Florida at Mixed Fighting Alliance: There Will Be Blood. The former WWE superstar stopped his opponent, debuting fighter Joshua Franklin, in forty one seconds due to a cut on the forehead above his right eye.

Despite making his debut with Mixed Fighting Alliance (MFA), Lashley remains under contract with the American Fight League. The heavyweight received permission from the AFL in order to make his pro debut.

The AFL had attempted to loan out their fighters to other promotions in joint ventures prior to Lashley fighting on the MFA card. The reason for these rentals come from the AFL’s decision to hold off putting on a card until next Spring.
