Greg Hardy was a promising NFL prospect until domestic abuse charges surfaced and he was found guilty. He was sentenced to 18 months probation and suspended from the NFL for 10 games. All charges were dropped when the accuser failed to appear in court to testify. Still, the damage was done and Hardy’s NFL career was spiraling. Dana White gave Greg a chance to prove himself on the Contender series and he didn’t disappoint with a :42 KO win. He received a contract offer and is no officially a UFC fighter. He spoke with TMZ about proving he’s a changed man and to discuss how excited he is for the opportunity.
On October 9th, 2013 the UFC comes back to Fox Sports 1 with a great free card headlined by a welterweight bout with title implications between Demian Maia and Jake Shields. Both men have contended for the UFC title with Shields at welterweight and Maia a tmiddleweight Both did so unsuccessfully. That’s not where the comparisons endthough. Both men are fantastic black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and have demonstrated such in their MMA careers. So ready or not, here comes the breakdown for this battle between these top contenders.
For a couple months now there have been rumors of former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Chuck Liddell either taking on UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 95 in London, with Silva moving up to light heavyweight or Liddell moving up to heavyweight to face Randy Couture for a fourth time, in Germany at UFC 99 in June.
Addressing the rumors, “The Iceman” has made it clear that he is not looking for a fight with Silva or Couture and the organization has not approached him about either fight.
However, there is one fight on Chuck Liddell’s mind; a rematch with Keith Jardine. Liddell has been quoted as saying, “There’s been a few names. We have Jardine listed. We want him in March.”
