Josh Neer will replace an injured Sean Sherk to take on Gleison Tibau at UFC 104 on Oct. 24 in Los Angeles.
Sherdog first reported the news citing a source close to the matchup. PRO MMA (promma.info) has since confirmed the switch with Neer’s manager Mickey Dubberly.
Sean Sherk (33-4-1) has apparently incurred a shoulder injury during training that will sideline him for approximately four weeks. Sherk last fought at UFC 98 where he gave up a unanimous decision loss to Frankie Edgar.
Josh Neer (25-8-1) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Kurt Pellegrino at UFC 101 on Aug. 8. Neer is 2-2 in his last four fights. It could be a must-win for the 29-year-old “Dentist” from Des Moines.
American Top Team’s Gleison Tibau (19-6) is 4-3 in his last seven UFC bouts. His last Octagon appearance was a close split-decision loss to Melvin Guillard at the “TUF 9” Finale back in June.
