UFC on Fight Island to go down on Saturday and features middleweights Kelvin Gastelum versus Jack Hermansson as its co main event and a flyweight championship bout between Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benevidez.
Kelvin is on a two fight skid and while most fighters would panic Dana White has publicly stated that this is not a crossroads type fight for Gastelum. Still, it is a very important one and he needs it to stay near the top of the leaderboard.
Jack is 4-1 in his last 5 and the loss was via TKO to Jared Cannonier back in September of 2019. A win over Gastelum would make his name known to more than just hard-core fans.
Figueiredo believes he is going to knock Benavidez out again like he did when they met back in February. Joseph is 35 years old and it isn’t getting any younger. Championship opportunities sometimes only come around every few years so this could be a real make or break fight for his career.
The Weigh-ins s are in the books and Saturday night’s card is cleared for takeoff.
