Due to the Christmas attack by Lizard Squad that reportedly took Xbox Live and the Playstation Network (PSN) servers down, the mysterious Xur will extend his stay in the Tower until Monday night, Dec. 29, at 10 p.m. PT (1 a.m. ET). Those who weren’t able to log on to trade with Xur in the Tower over the weekend will now have an extra day to deal with the Agent of the Nine.

The report from Bungie Forums:

Hey, Destiny Community.

We understand that Xur has been hard to reach for a lot of you this weekend, so we’re going to extend his stay. Our current plan is to allow him to remain in the Tower with his current inventory until Monday night at 10pm PST, just before the weekly reset. We’ll also keep an eye on the overall situation, and prolong the extension, as needed, for as long as is feasible.

Next week, Xur will return to his regular schedule, with refreshed inventory.

Thank you for your patience!

Luckily, I was able to deal with Xur early Friday morning before the Lizards apparently had time to wake (must live on the West Coast). I ended up getting an Exotic Shard and cashing in a Shotgun (Invectus) bounty.

It’s amazing how much media attention the Lizards got, and of course it just feeds into it more… for the LULZ. But how sad your life must be if on Christmas day you f*ck it up for all the gamers with a denial of service attack. They must play PC. Still, you have to respect their power for telling the world what they were going to do, then doing it. It still sucked for the rest of us though.
