170 lbs:  Anthony Lapsley vs. Albert Tumenov

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Lapsley shoots, stuffed. Body kick from Lapsley, Tumenov catches it and knocks Lapsley to his butt with a left hook. Lapsley right back up, seems okay. Lapsley shoots in again, gets a takedown ever so briefly before Tumenov is right back up and backs him to the cage, lands a right. Another. Nice left hook from Tumenov. Lapsley shoots again, nope. Lapsley with back to cage, looking very uncomfortable on his feet. Tumenov is quick! Punches look powerful. Tumenov fires a quick right. He then lands another short left hook on the button and Anthony Lapsley is laid out like a starched new shirt. Tumenov improves to 13-2.

155 lbs:  Justin Salas vs. Ben Wall

Round 1 – No glove touch. Left to the body from Salas, he shoots in but can’t complete the takedown. Inside leg kick, he shoots again, but Wall defends. Brief clinch against the cage. Salas shoots in again, sprawl from Wall, Salas with a front headlock, lands a knee on the break. Shoots again. Wall stuffs it, tries to reverse. High kick from Salas blocked. Lands a knee after shooting in. Uppercut in the clinch from Wall. Clinch, dirty boxing, knee to the body then an overhand right from Salas, followed by a straight left on the chin drops Wall to the canvas. Salas finishes him off, forcing the stoppage who wakes up and tries to takedown the referee.

145 lbs:  Manny Gamburyan vs. Nik Lentz

Round 1 – Manny pressing. Lentz lands a right. Left jab, straight right follows. Knee to the body catches Manny coming in. He resets. Clinch up, Lentz presses him to the cage, lands a couple knees to the face. He drags Manny to his knees. Softening him up with left hands, looking for his back. Lentz with some knees to the body. Manny gets to his feet but Lentz still pressing him to the cage, knees to the thighs and body. Lentz lands a right hand to the groin and the ref steps in calling time out. Back at it. Left hook to body and head from Manny. Head kick from Lentz, then he shoots in for the double against the cage. 90 seconds left in the round. Couple of knees to the head from Lentz, he gets a bodylock takedown next. Looking for Manny’s back. Manny defends, but eats a couple punches. Manny lands a knee to the body on the way to his feet. Lentz is able to get another bodylock and gets Manny back to his knees, looking for his back as the bell sounds. PMN sees it 10-9 Lentz.

Round 2 – Manny pressing. They take some extra tape off Manny’s glove. Right counter hook from Manny stuns Lentz. Lentz fires back but eats another right. Nice body kick from Manny. Right to the body from Lentz. Manny shoots for a single and gets Lentz on his back. Inside full guard. Lentz tries getting up but Manny is able to put him back down. Lentz gets to his feet now, grabs a Thai plum and lands a couple knees. He shoots in against the cage. Manny lands a couple elbows but gets put down. Lentz looking for his back, one hook in, landing punches. Manny on one knee. Lentz now in front of Manny, lands a couple knees to the body. Manny looking for a single from his knees. Lentz gets free and lands some knees to the body. Manny back to the feet as Lentz has him against the cage and pressing, looking for the takedown. Gets Manny down again, has a bodylock. Manny back to his feet, keeping one hand down. Lentz pressing him to the cage, knees to the body. Lentz lands a big knee to the already swollen right eye at the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Lentz.

Round 3 – Manny takes the center. High kick from Lentz blocked. Couple right hooks from Lentz, then a left hook or two. Couple of counter hooks from Manny. Lentz shoots in and gets Manny down again. Manny looking for a kimura from half guard, he’s able to roll Lentz, now looking for a straight arm bar. He lets it go. Lentz now has the advantage position but Manny is able to push him over and take top control inside guard. Ref stands them up. — technical difficulties on Fight Pass — I see the guys trade a body kick before Lentz gets a takedown. Manny back to his feet, Lentz pressing him to the cage. Manny lands some elbows to the side of the head as Lentz continues to look for the takedown. Knees to the body from Lentz before the bell. PMN sees the round 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Lentz.

135 lbs:  Johnny Eduardo vs. Eddie Wineland

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Leg kick Eduardo. Eduardo shoots in, clinch, break. Leg kick Eduardo after a right from Wineland. He throws another right. Leg kick Eduardo. Leg kick from Wineland. Leg kick inside from Eduardo buckles Wineland. Inside kick again from Eduardo, then goes upstairs with it, blocked. Left jab from Eduardo on the chin. Eduardo with good head movement avoiding punches. Leg kick from Wineland. Right from Eduardo knocks Wineland off balance ever so briefly. Clinch, break. Inside leg kick from Eduardo. Leg kick Eduardo. They trade right hooks but then Eduardo lands a right hook, then another big right hook counter that wobbles Wineland badly. Eduardo finishes him off with another right hook and Wineland is done. Huge win for Eduardo over the number four ranked bantamweight. Johnny Eduardo wasn’t even in the top 15 and has been sidelined for about 2 years now. Wineland sure carries chin high when he’s in there, but usually gets away with it. Not this time.

170 lbs:  Yan Cabral vs. Zak Cummings

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Right from Cabral but a counter left hook from Cummings brings Cabral to one knee. Cummings gets a takedown but Cabral locks up a triangle, landing elbows to the side of Cummings’ head. Cummings is able to get free, Cabral gets to his feet, clinched, knee from Cummings to the body. Cabral presses him to the cage. They wrestle in the clinch for a bit, Cabral gets the double leg takedown. Cummings’ back to the cage, while he’s on his butt. Cabral on top inside half guard. Cummings defending, Cabral not able to get much going from top. PMN sees it 10-9 Cabral.

Round 2 – Touch gloves. Head kick from Cabral is caught by Cummings, he dumps him on his back, standing over him lands a couple kicks to the legs. Ref lets Cabral up. Left from Cummings, now one to the body, body kick. Big right from Cabral and Cummings just smiles. Leg kick Cummings. He blocks a spinning backfist. Cabral shoots, ends up on his back with Cummings inside full guard. Cummings avoids a kimura attempt. Stands up and ref lets Cabral up. Nice body kick from Cummings. Cabral with a couple rights. Body kick from Cummings. Cabral presses him to the cage, looking for a single. Cummings turns him around to the cage. 60 seconds left in the round. Cabral drops levels for a shot, sprawl from Cummings. Trade a couple punches. Body kick Cummings. Leg kick Cabral. Right hook from Cummings, followed by a left cross, he then scores a takedown. PMN sees the round 10-9 for Cummings.

Round 3 – Touch gloves. Leg kick Cabral. He shoots, stuffed. Leg kick from Cummings, then fires off a punch combo, presses Cabral to the cage. Spinning elbow from Cabral on the break. Another one from Cabral and it lands. Cummings gets a takedown though, Cabral looks for a triangle and armbar, but Cummings is free and landing some shots before Cabral goes for a leg. Cummings scrambles to full mount with half the round down. Both hooks in from Cummings as Cabral gives up the back. Cummings looking for the RNC briefly. Cabral sneaks out the back door and takes top control with side mount. Cabral looking for a kimura from the top now. Cummings gets free of it, but still on bottom in half guard. Cummings gets to top position, lands a couple punches before the bell. It all comes down to this round and which way you see it. PMN sees the round 10-9 for Cummings and the fight 29-28 for Cummings.

125 lbs:  Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Darrell Montague

Round 1 – Right from Horiguchi. Back to feeling out, gauging their range. Takedown from Montague. Tries to posture up with a punch but Horiguchi is able to explode to his feet. He throws and misses a couple big punches as Montague avoids. Leg kick from Montague but eats a counter right hand. Left hook from Horiguchi followed by a leg kick. Front kick to the body from Horiguchi. Left hook and a leg kick follow. Leg kick from Montague. Horiguchi returns same. Left from Montague, Horiguchi ducks most of it. Montague catches a body kick, goes for the takedown at the bell. Close round.

Round 2 – Clinch against the cage, standing arm triangle from Montague. Horiguchi gets free, goes for a takedown as Montague jumps on a standing guillotine, lets it go. Horiguchi briefly presses him to the cage before backing out. Right from Horiguchi scores. Leg kick Montague, shoots in, stuffed. Right counter punch from Horiguchi scores. Punch/kick combo, then a body kick from Horiguchi. Backs Montague to the cage and unloads a punch combo, hurting Montague with a left. Montague tries escaping, takes a body kick. Horiguchi pours it on as Montague covers up on his knees. Montague with wrist control briefly, Horiguchi goes back to work with punches, then a suplex as Montague stands. Both back up now. Body kick from Horiguchi. Right to the body. Straight left from Montague scores. Front kick to the body, right hand to the chin. Body kick from Horiguchi causes Montague to double over briefly. Left hook from Horiguchi stuns Montague. Horiguchi pours it on with a punch combo, then a right hand before the bell that causes Montague to stumble across the cage as the bell sounds. Don’t know if he’ll be able to answer the bell for round 3.

Round 3 – Body kick from Horiguchi. Another. Right from Horiguchi. Big left from Horiguchi. He catches a high kick and dumps Montague on his back. Lands a right while standing over Montague. Lands a couple more as Montague tries to defend. Montague lands an up kick, tries to roll to freedom but Horiguchi is back on top with punches. Montague gets to his feet. Body kick from Horiguchi. Body kick from Montague. Body kick and a left from Montague. Left right from Montague. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Horiguchi.

Round 1 – Leg kick from Natal, brief clinch. Inside leg kick from Natal. Herman pressing. Front kick Natal. Body jab. Inside leg kick. Inside leg kick from Herman. Big leg kick from Natal buckles Herman, limping. Natal throws a leg kick to the other side now and catches Herman off balance, he goes down and Natal is on top inside full guard. Natal trying to work the ground and pound from the top. Closed guard from Herman. Nice elbow from Natal. Herman is able to use the cage to get to his feet. Natal throwing some knees to the thighs, Herman sweeps him to his back, now he’s on top inside full guard. Lands a couple hammerfists, an elbow, hammerfists, two more elbows and a shin to the chin as Natal gets up at the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Herman.

Round 2 – Body kick from Natal, but Herman counters with a couple left hooks that land. Leg kick from Natal. Right hook, brief clinch. Herman catches a kick and lands a counter right hand. Inside leg kick from Natal. Left hand from Herman. Leg kick. Herman stalking. Stuffs a takedown attempt. Right hook counter from Natal, he then scores a takedown on Herman, lands a nice right from inside his full guard. Ref stands them up after a bit. Clinch as Herman defends the takedown. Against the cage, Natal escapes to the center. Herman stalking. Lands a kick as Natal looks in for a takedown. Clinch against the cage, Natal turns him around, they trade some knees. Fairly close round, PMN sees it 10-9 Herman.

Round 3 – Touch gloves. Herman stalking, Natal scores with a snappy jab. Herman stuffs a takedown after blocking a head kick. Leg kick from Natal. Herman still stalking. Natal shoots, stuffed. Jab from Natal. He shoots, stuffed. Big left from Natal. Left hook from Herman. Right counter from Natal. Clinch against the cage, trade knees. Herman takes one to the groin and a brief time is called. Herman stuffs a takedown, lands a couple punches and a knee to the noggin. Natal bleeding pretty good from his forehead. Natal lands a front kick to the face. Herman smiles and touches gloves. Uppercut from Natal. Leg kick Herman. He ducks a spinning backfist, pushes Natal to the cage. Natal turns him around. Herman breaks out. Nice jab from Natal. Leg kick, then lands a spinning backfist as Herman shoots in. Natal turns him to the cage with under a minute to go. Herman turns him around. Herman lands a right as Natal tries to escape. Herman presses him to the cage for more dirty boxing before the bell. Natal breaks free and they hug it out. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Herman.

125 lbs:  Chris Cariaso vs. Louis Smolka

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Body kick from Smolka, leg kick from Cariaso. Smolka presses him to the cage, underhooks. Couple knees to the body from Cariaso. Smolka with knees to the thighs. Elbow on the break from Cariaso. Nice right hand, then a head kick from Cariaso. Clinch against the cage after Cariaso avoids some strikes. Body shots from Smolka, tries for the judo throw. Now Smolka looking for a single against the cage. Cariaso locks on a choke, ends up on bottom, back to the feet and they slug it out before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 for Cariaso.

Round 2 – Nice body kick from Smolka, but Cariaso fires back with a nice punch combo. Smolka with another body kick but Smolka ends up getting his back taken as it goes to the ground. Cariaso looking for the choke as he rides Smolka. Smolka is able to gain top position, stands up over Cariaso, lays inside his full guard. Cariaso goes for an armbar. Smolka is able to escape to his feet, where they clinch up and Smolka presses Cariaso to the cage. Knee to the body from Smolka, the wrestle in the clinch. Cariaso gets a trip takedown, lands some body shots from top. Smolka stays busy off his back, rolls over to his feet. Leg kick from Cariaso. Body kick and nice punch combo follow, snapping Smolka’s head back. Smolka gets a takedown and locks up a choke at the bell. PMN sees the round 10-9 Cariaso.

Round 3 – Nice leg kick from Cariaso. Smolka returns same. One two from Cariaso. Leg kick, and another from Cariaso. Body kick Smolka. Leg kick from Cariaso. Clinch, Smolka is able to trip Cariaso and take top control with 3 minutes to go. Smolka takes full mount and is dropping punches. Trip takedown from Smolka, back to the feet. They trade punches. Leg kick and body kick from Cariaso. Left hook. Big leg kick from Cariaso drops Smolka. He gets up but eats a couple more big leg kicks, they trade punches. Cariaso continues to batter the leg. Smolka ties him up against the cage. Cariaso looks for a choke and lands a right hand before the bell. PMN sees the round 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Cariaso.

265 lbs:  Soa Palelei vs. Ruan Potts

Round 1 – Potts (8-1) is from South Africa and making his UFC debut. Touch gloves. Potts catches a left on the chin as Palalei scores a takedown. Potts holding Palelei’s neck from the bottom. Palelei in side control, Potts looking for a north-south choke briefly during a scramble. Palelei back on top inside guard. Body shots from Palelei as Potts threatens an arm. Palelei gets full mount and knocks Potts out with punches.

Round 1 – Leg kick Magny. Leg kick again. Catches Means’ leg kick. Lets it go. Front kick to the thigh, followed by a straight left from Means. Clinch, he lands an elbow. Nice jab from Magny. Leg kick Means. Trade front kicks. Knee to the body from Means, clinch, knee from Magny to the body as they wrestle in the clinch against the cage. Means backs out. Magny with a body lock takedown. Now on top in half guard. Means gets to his feet. Looks at the clock with 90 seconds left. Body shot from Magny. Nice spinning backfist from Means scores. Front kick from Magny. He drops Means with a left hand. Means gets up and Magny shoots in against the cage. Couple elbows from Means. Right hand from Magny before the bell. PMN sees the round 10-9 Magny.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Magny. Left hand from Means. Back elbow from Means. Magny fires back with a nice jab. Front kick. Body kick from Means. Nice stiff jab from Magny snaps Means’ head back. Body kick from Magny, Means catches it and dumps Magny. Magny trying to get up as Means attacks the body with knees. Magny up to his feet, body lock against the cage. Means escapes. Side kick from Means. Jab from Magny. Magny ducks a hook and gets a double leg takedown. Means gets up to his feet, but Magny with a body lock looking for the takedown again. Wrestling in the clinch now as Means defends. They reset and trade punches before the bell. PMN sees the round 10-9 Magny.

Round 3 – Right hand from Means. He lands a big knee that hurts Magny. They reset and Means locks up a choke and takes Magny down. Magny back up, clinched against the cage now. Magny looking for the takedown, lands a couple knees to the body from the clinch. Body lock takedown from Magny, lands in side mount. Means gets right up though. Magny hanging on him, drags him back down, gets full mount. Means gives up his back. Magny gets both hooks in. Magny gives up his back once more. Scramble and Magny is on top in half guard. Means gets to his knees and feet and scores a takedown at the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Magny.

155 lbs:  Daron Cruickshank vs. Erik Koch

Round 1 – Koch pressing, eats a right counter from Cruickshank. Leg kick from Koch is caught, eats a side kick to the body from Cruickshank. Leg kick from Koch. Body kick from Cruickshank. Nice inside leg kick from Koch. Body kick from Cruickshank. Nice inside leg kick from Koch, but he eats a head kick to the back of the head that drops him, a follow up punch or two knocks him out. Ref doesn’t realize it and he gets pounded with elbows that wake him up until the ref stops it. Big win for Cruickshank.

185 lbs:  Lorenz Larkin vs. Costas Philippou

Round 1 – Front kick Larkin. Costas lands a left. Body shot from Costas and a leg kick. Clinch from Larkin, looking for a knee and Costas pushes him off. Leg kick Larkin, again with a hard one. Clinch against the cage, Costas pressing on Larkin. Larkin escapes to the center. Uppercut and a left hook from Larkin. Big body kick from Larkin. Leg kick. Superman punch lands. Checks a leg kick, again. Leg kick from Larkin, Costas counters with punches and Larkin fires back. Clinched against the cage now. Larkin lands an elbow on the break. Leg kick from Costas. Larkin fires one back. Costas lands a big left/right combo and Lorenz Larkin gets KTFO! Wow!

170 lbs:  Matt Brown vs. Erick Silva

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Brown all over him with a body kick and clinch as Silva takes him down, Brown rolls over to top with a reversal. Back to the feet. Big body kick, and another one from Silva and Brown goes down. Silva tries to finish, jumps on his back with both hooks in and is looking for the choke. Fast start from Silva. This is a 5-rounder remember. Brown looked almost done after those kicks. Silva with the neck crank as Brown pulls off the hand with wrist control. Brown working to escape. Brown gets to his feet, lands a knee, elbow and is stalking Silva, lands big punches and knees as Silva tries to escape. Brown teeing off with elbows. Silva running, they trade high kicks that are blocked. Nice jab from Silva. Brown sweeps him to the ground and Brown picks his shots with punches and kicks. He throws Silva back down, lands elbows and another knee. Silva looks exhausted. Big right from Brown followed by more punches and Brown times a perfect takedown. Amazing fight and comeback by Brown to take the round. Best round I’ve seen in a long time.

Round 2 – Right from Brown followed by a knee and more punches. Silva fires back with a nice body kick that stuns Brown. Brown fires back with punches and kicks. Dirty boxing now in the clinch. Silva escapes from the cage and Brown tees off with punches. Brown’s boxing looking phenomenal, he lands knees and elbows to the head. Right hand, uppercut from Brown, Silva fires back a single. Brown being measured but teeing off and digging in with big left hands upstairs. Great combos from Brown, but Silva hurts him with a body punch. Brown scores a takedown, gets side mount, now locks on a triangle from top and is dropping punches. Silva gets out of the triangle but Brown locks on a D’arce. Moves to full mount, Brown lets it go and unleashes nasty ground and pound as Silva flails about. Brown goes for an armbar, gives up position as Silva is free of it. Brown locks up a triangle but Silva is out and now inside Brown’s guard with 30 seconds left. Brown with full guard off his back. Silva does nothing from top at all. Throws not one punch. PMN sees it 10-9 Brown.

Round 3 – Brown takes the center. Left from Silva. Body kick from Brown. Two lead lefts and a right, then knees from Brown, more punches as Silva covers up. Silva tries to fire back, but Brown scores a takedown, now inside his full guard. Brown working the ground and pound, lands a nice straight right to the chin. He postures up, big right hand. Now dropping elbows and Silva is cut and bleeding. Brown unloads a barrage of punches as Silva flails, then rolls over and covers up in effect saying he’s had enough. Ref Herb Dean stops this fight. One of the best fights we’ve seen inside this eight-sided cage. Joe Silva is tweeting or messaging someone inside the Octagon. Dana White comes in and shakes his hand. Matt Brown just earned his respect folks and the UFC has a new star. Give that man a title shot.
