Duane_LudwigCoach Duane “Bang” Ludwig‘s addition to Team Alpha Male seem to revolutionize the striking of the whole Sacramento based MMA gym and led the team to unprecedented success. But now it seems Ludwig and Team Alpha Male are going their separate ways — a mutual decision according to UFC Tonight correspondent Ariel Helwani.

Helwani on Wednesday’s UFC Tonight on Fox Sports 1:

“Urijah Faber just told me that Duane Bang Ludwig, is out as coach as of May 24. They are mutually parting ways. Team Alpha Male is looking for a new coach, and some names they’ve considered include Mark Beecher, Mark Hominick, Robert Follis and Dan Hardy.”

No real explanation was given as to why Bang and Team Alpha Male are splitting up. Could it be because as much success as Bang brought the team, they have still yet to claim a UFC championship? Or maybe he’s just too tall for the vertically challenged lighter weight sluggers? Oh, and Urijah Faber did just lose that title fight to Renan Barao last month… there is that.

Ludwig did say he’s planning to move back home and open his own gym, so maybe that’s all there is to it.

Bang’s words:

“I’m moving back to Colorado to open and run my own gym and business. Time to build my own brand. All is good here in Sacramento. Love the guys here, but I have to build my own business.”
