UFC_166_posterUFC 166: VELASQUEZ VS. DOS SANTOS III takes place this evening at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas and is headlined with a heavyweight title bout between champion Cain Velasquez and rival Junior Dos Santos. This will be the third time the two have met, each having won one bout.

Dustin Pague vs. Kyoji Horiguchi

Round 1 – Leg kick from Horiguchi. Inside this time. Dancing around the outside. They trade punch attempts, Pague with the takedown and locks up a body triangle from the back. Horiguchi stands up. Pague looking for the choke, back against the fence while Horiguchi is standing. Horiguchi using two hands to control Pague’s left hand preventing the choke. Horiguchi eventually escapes. Right hand from Pague as Horiguchi lunges in. Horiguchi shoots, stuffed, eats a knee. Horiguchi lands a right on the break. Pague with a nice throw takedown. Scramble and Horiguchi ends up on top and lands a right before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 for Horiguchi.

Round 2 – Leg kick, left hand from Horiguchi. He drops Pague with a big left hook. Horiguchi stacks him with big punches. Herb Dean right on top of the action. Pague locks up a leg and puts Horiguchi on his back. Pague inside his full guard. Horiguchi gets to his feet and pushes Pague against the cage, gives him some knees to the thighs then scores a trip takedown on Page. Horiguchi on top in half guard and landing short right hands to the face. Hammerfist from Horiguchi. Pague tries to sweep. Horiguchi stacks him with big right hands to the face. Round 1 – Fili scores early with a combo. Larsen pushes him to the cage but eats some big knees and is cut open and bleeding from his forehead. Fili swarming with more knees and punches. Clinched against the cage, Larsen turns Fili to the cage, drops levels and looking for the double leg. Big body shot from Fili. Fili escapes and time is called as the ref gets the doctor to check Larsen’s cut. We’re good to go. Couple of nice rights from Larsen and a jab. Right hand and stiff jab from Fili. Fili ties him up against the cage. Larsen backs out. Leg kick from Fili, Larsen catches it and scores the takedown, now on top inside Fili’s full guard. Fili looking for an omoplata. Larsen escapes and trying to work the ground and pound, lands a right. Fili sweeps, stands up. They square up. Fili pressing. Big left counter from Fili, leg kick. Jab from Fili. PMN sees it 10-9 Fili.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Fili. He eats a big right from Larsen after countering some punches. Nice jab from Larsen. Left hook, but he eats a left then a huge right hand from Fili that hurts him. Larsen crumples and Fili finishes him off with punches as Larsen turtles up. Great UFC debut from Andre Fili.

Round 1 – Left jab from Rio. Big leg kick from Ferguson. Rio shoots, catches Ferguson with a big left hook. Rio continues with the shot, stuffed. He presses Ferguson to the cage, clinch, Ferguson pushes him off and lands a right. , left. Rio’s nose bleeding, he shoots, stuffed. Knee to the shoulder from Ferguson. He stands up, they square up. Big left hook from Ferguson rocks Rio. Rio shoots. Ferguson locks on a D’arce and Rio taps out. Big win in Ferguson’s comeback fight after a long layoff due to a broken arm.

TJ Waldburger vs. Adlan Amagov

Round 1 – Leg kick from Waldburger. Side kick to the knee from Amagov, front kick. Leg kick from Waldburger. Leg kick from Waldburger again. Amagov goes over the head with a spin kick. Left hook from Waldburger, he shoots, stuffed. Beautiful spinning back kick to the gut from Amagov. Leg kick from Waldburger, he shoots, stuffed. Tied up against the cage, he presses Amagov to the fence and drops levels for a single. Turns the corner but Amagov defends well. Amagov gives him some hard left hands and Waldburger goes down. Amagov, while in the clinch, drops Waldburger with a flash KO, the ref does not step in and Amagov lands several more big shots on the chin until Waldburger goes unconscious. Referee Yves Lavigne a little slow to respond there.

Round 1 – George circling on the outside. Boos from the crowd. Left body jab from KJ. Not a bit of offense from George yet. Body jab from KJ again. Again. Again. Again. Right counter punch from Sotropoulos. Right to the body from Noons. Crowd getting restless. Right to the body from Noons again. Right counter from Sotiropoulos. George flashing a left jab. He blocks a big left hook. Right to the body from KJ and he takes an eye poke. Time out is called with under a minute to go in the round. KJ said he’s seeing some black in his eye but he can fight. Nice right from Marquardt, Thai plum, eats a couple punches in the clinch from Lombard. Right hand over the top from Lombard hurts Marquardt. He follows up with a big left under the arm as Marquardt retreats, this drops him and Lombard lands a few huge hammerfist punches and Marquardt goes unconscious. Scary Hector Lombard.

Round 1 – Leg kick from Boetsch. Right to the body from Dollaway. Overhand right from Boetsch, catches a leg kick, kicks the back leg and dumps Dollaway. He gets right up. Left jab, big right from Dollaway. Big leg kick Dollaway, again. Big leg kick again, caught by Boetsch. Thai plum and knee to the body from Boetsch, but eats a left right from Dollaway. Nice left hook from Dollaway. Boetsch shoots, gets the takedown, but Dollaway gets right up. Leg kick from Boetsch. Head kick from Dollaway goes a little high, skims the top of Boetsch’s head. Round 3 – Leg kick Boetsch. Leg kick from Dollaway and Boetsch takes a hard inadvertent poke in the eye. Time is called. He’s bleeding from the eye that was poked. The doctor comes in to check it out. He says he can see and can continue. Jab from CB. He shoots, stuffed. Boetsch looks motivated. Clinch, CB retreats. Leg kick CB. Boetsch takes another poke in the eye… the other one this time. Time is called yet again. Boetsch is pissed. Ref takes a point from CB. Left  right from Boetsch, he attacks hard. Dollaway fires back, shoots and Boetsch jumps on a guillotine. Dollaway slips his head out and is now on top. Boetsch fights to escape but Dollaway puts him back down in half guard. CB gets to full mount, dropping elbows. Boetsch sweeps to his feet, foot stomp in the clinch against the cage. Knee from CB. They square up. Leg kick Boetsch. Right hook from Dollaway. Right from CB. Overhand right from Boetsch. He comes in looking for the kill but CB tags him with a couple big rights, clinch, takedown from CB, Boetsch grabs his neck for the choke, CB scrambles out. 10 seconds to go and Beotsch has CB’s neck looking for the finish. The crowd boos when CB raises his hands. Then cheer when Boetsch raises his. Due to the point taken from CB, PMN scores the round 9-9.

Round 1 – Leg kick Montague. Again. Dodson returns same. Jab from Montague. Right hand from Dodson connects solid after faking a left. Crowd getting restless. Montague with a leg kick. Nice left to the neck from Dodson. Trade leg kicks. Dodson drops Montague with a huge left hand. Montague fights to his feet but Dodson hurts him again with more big punches. Montague shoots for the takedown. Stuffed, but he’s back up. Dodson hurts him again with punches. Nice left from Montague. Leg kick. He seems okay now. Wow. Left, right hook from Montague. Nice couple lefts from the clinch from Dodson. Nice left from Dodson on the chin drops Montague face first to the canvas and this fight is over. Amazing power from Dodson!! That’s big power for a 125-er and it comes from his speed. He celebrates with son crazy acrobatic flips.

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shawn Jordan

Round 1 – Leg kick from Gonzaga. Nice right from Gabe. Right to the body, right to the chin. Big leg kick inside from Gabe. Right left from Jordan but he gets countered with a big right hook and goes down. Gabe finishes him off with punches and Jordan goes out. Do not EVER sleep on Gabe Gonzaga. EVER. He’s one of the longest tenured heavyweights still competing at a high level in the UFC.

Diego is all heart. Gil with a big one two on the chin. Diego is bleeding profusely, calling Gil to come on and bring it on. Ref calls time to check Diego’s cut. They let it go. Body kick from Diego. Leg kick. Crowd chanting Diego. Right hook from Gil. Big exchange and Diego tells him to come on. Diego lands a big right, a big uppercut and it drops Gil. He jumps on Gil’s back looking for the choke. Gil sweeps him and Diego looks for the guillotine. Gil escapes. Diego gets up, eats a knee. Diego lands a body kick. OMG this is crazy. Gil stops a spin kick and gets a body lock takedown from the back. Diego hits the switch for a takedown, back up. Body kick Diego. Again. With 10 seconds left they slug it out like nuts. Joe Rogan just said that was the new greatest fight he’s ever seen in his life. I think I have to agree. Holy sh*t this crowd is going nuts. Round 1 – Hold on to your hats. Left hook from Roy. Big single leg takedown from Cormier. Nelson trying to get up, eats an uppercut. Cormier working the ground and pound from top. Roy gives up his back, gets to his feet, but Cormier hanging on him and muscles him back down. Roy back on his feet, takes a knee. Cormier drops levels for a single. Roy looking for a standing kimura. Cormier escapes, clinch wrestling now against the cage. Dirty boxing against the cage, big knee to the body from Cormier, another one appears to be low and time is called. Touch gloves. Body kick Cormier. Jab from Cormier. Left hook, then a big right from Nelson misses as he head hunts. Big combo from Cormier. Roy head hunts again. Cormier fires off a combo and Roy throws a big hook as Cormier ducks. Roy has POWER!  PMN has it 10-9 for Cormier.

Round 2 – Cormier flashing a jab. Leg kick. Fakes a shot, lands a left. Front kick to the belly. Body shot from Roy. Right hand. Big punch combo, then a shot from Cormier, presses Roy to the cage. Knee to the body, big one two, shoots for the single. Gets Roy down but he’s right back up. Big one two from Cormier, he presses Roy to the cage. Roy grabs his neck. Round 1 – Cain takes a left hook and is staggered. He shoots, gets a takedown, goes for a guillotine as JDS gets up. Big uppercut from JDS. Big right from Cain, he shoots, presses him to the cage. Knee to the body from JDS as Cain gives him some rights. JDS escapes. Left right from JDS, Cain presses him to the cage, right hands. Big knee to the body from Cain but JDS fires back, head kick. Left hook as Cain shoots, looking for the takedown against the cage. Knees to the thighs from Cain. He muscles JDS to the ground, full mount, now half guard. Elbow from his back from JDS. Cain postures up with elbows of his own. JDS gives up his back. Now to his feet. Knee to body from Cain, he drops levels for a single. JDS stops it. Cain pressing him to the cage. Dirty boxing from Cain. Under a minute to go. They trade knees. JDS gets space and goes for a spin kick that misses. PMN sees it 10-9 for Cain Velasquez.

Round 2 – Cain with a left hook and a knee, leg kick, goes for a single. Gets him down but JDS right up. Cain pressing. Drops levels, stuffed. Cain pressing him to the cage. Knees to the thighs.
