The UK’s premier Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce a Heavyweight smash-up between Darren Towler and Callum Cook for the BAMMA 12 preliminaries, taking place at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on Saturday 9th March 2013.

Tickets are on sale now from www.BAMMA.com, www.metroradioarena.co.uk and http://www.kililive.com/BAMMA

Newcastle’s Darren ‘Powerhouse’ Towler steamrolls in from Team Machine with a history of 9 wins and 6 losses. Debuting with a 45 second KO in 2008, Towler has brought some phenomenal first round TKOs and Knock Outs to the UK circuit, where he has proved a popular name both on North East shows and at UCMMA in London. Towler is a on a five fight winning streak, after cutting through a string of British bruisers to culminate in his 48 second domination of Dayman Lake at the end of last year. 2012 saw Towler accumulate British Heavyweight titles at Made4 theCage, Supremacy FC and UCMMA.

Made4theCage stand-out, Callum ‘Ready Steady’ Cook, stands undefeated at 3-0-0. His debut professional bout saw him execute his gameplan in 17 seconds. His last fight saw him slice off milliseconds off that score, when he stopped Rob Bennet at 16 seconds into round 1 with punches finished with Ground n Pound. Cook has been itching for the step up to face tougher, more experienced opposition.

Callum ‘Ready Steady’ Cook said:

“Darren is a well-respected Heavyweight and has fought some of the best in the UK. It will be great to step in the cage for the UK’s biggest show BAMMA!! It’s a massive step up for me to fight Darren, and being the underdog just makes me more determined”.

BAMMA’s Managing Director, Ashley Bothwell, said:

“Hometown fighter Darren Towler is a favourite in the Northeast for his sheer knock out power and brings the noise wherever he fights. Callum Cook is upcoming talent who has walked through previous opponents and has his sights on tougher competition. Towler is currently ranked at #10 among UK Heavyweights so this fight provides an opportunity for Cook, who is hungry for the break. Towler better be ready!”

BAMMA 12 will feature on Channel 5 and 5* in the UK; and will be televised on AXS-TV in the US, The Fight Network in Canada, Red Media in Russia, TV Esporte Interativo in Brazil and Setanta in Africa.
