Two new bouts have been formed for the UFC on FOX 6 card as Josh Janousek (8-1) replaces Buddy Roberts (12-3) against Michael Kuiper (12-1), and Sean Spencer (9-1) steps in for an injured Magnus Cedenblad (10-4) to face Rafael Natal (14-4-1).
UFC officials confirmed the two new matchups today.
UFC on FOX 6 takes place on Jan. 26, at the United Center in Chicago. The event will feature a headline bout between current UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger John Dodson. The main card airs on FOX with the prelims set to air on FX and Facebook.
Josh Janousek is currently riding a six fight winning streak, most recently defeating B.J. Lacy via unanimous decision at a “Brutal Fight Night” event in April 2011. Prior to that he scored a first round submission victory over Michael Suttles Jr. at “KOTC – Mainstream” in October 2010. Janousek has the chance to extend his streak to seven with a win over Kuiper.
Michael Kuiper last fought at UFC 150 in August 2012, where he picked up a second round TKO victory over Jared Hamman. Prior to that he dropped unanimous decision loss to Rafael Natal at UFC 143 in February 2012. Kuiper will no doubt look to put another notch in the win column by defeating Janousek.
Rafael Natal was last in action at UFC on FUEL TV 4 in July 2012, where he suffered a second round KO loss against Andrew Craig. That loss snapped a two fight winning streak he had built up, defeating notable fighters Paul Bradley and Michael Kuiper. Natal will look to bounce back from his last fight with a big win over Spencer.
Sean Spencer is currently riding a three fight winning streak, most recently defeating Evan Cutts via unanimous decision at LFC 13 in August 2012. Prior to that he scored a second round submission victory over Joseph Daily at Bellator 62 in March 2012, and a unanimous decision win over Derrick Krantz in December 2011. Spencer will no doubt look to make a big entrance into the UFC by defeating Natal on Jan. 26.
