KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Invicta FC is back with their second card featuring a 14-bout event that takes place tonight at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan. Invicta Fighting Championships 2 is headlined by a bantamweight battle between Shayna Baszler and 2004 Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann.

The co-main event features another pair of veteran 135-pounders as Hitomi Akano squares off against Alexis Davis. Liz Carmouche will look to extend her winning streak at bantamweight against the hard-hitting Kaitlin Young. The live stream kicks off on InvictaFC.com at 7 p.m. ET with a six-fight preliminary card.

Jessamyn Duke vs. Suzie Montero

Round 1 – Duke with the one two, Thai clinch and knees. Montero pushes her to the cage. Duke with an arm in guillotine hold as Montero goes for a leg. Knees to the head and body from Duke, over and over. They struggle in the clinch, Duke trips her to the ground and is now on top in full closed guard. Montero holding on tight with her legs and arms. High guard from Montero. Looking to make something happen. Duke grinding her elbow into Montero. Duke trying to throw short elbows. Montero trying to lock up an armbar, they roll. Duke still on top, Montero throws up the armbar, Duke pulls out, stands over and stacks Montero. Montero goes for a foot and Duke is looking for an arm. Elbows to the back from Duke, she gets top position and unloads a flurry of punches to the face of Montero. PMN scores the round 10-9 Duke.

Round 2 – Thai clinch and knees from Duke. Montero backs up trying to punch, but Duke keeps the clinch, more knees, gets a standing guillotine position and delivers a knee to the head of Montero. Montero against the cage and Duke unloads knee after knee to the body still holding the Thai clinch. She pulls Montero to the ground, stacks her and lands punches to the face. Duke is all over her. Montero grabs a leg but lets it go as Duke stands back up and kicks the legs of her downed opponent. Duke lays inside Montero’s full guard and unloads several punches. Montero with a closed guard now and Duke is still working from top. It’s been all Duke so far with just under two minutes left in the round. Duke picking her punches. Montero throws up her legs looking for something. Duke in full reverse mount. Moves to half guard. PMN scores the round 10-9 Duke.

Round 3 – Montero’s left eye looks black. Montero scores with  a right, another one, a left. Duke lands a right, left. She catches a kick and puts Montero on her back. Duke back in top position in half guard dropping elbows and grinding her forearm into the face of Montero. Montero’s left eye almost swollen shut. Duke targeting the eye with elbows. Now dropping elbows to the body as Montero covers up. Referee watching closely. Montero is in pure defense now. He finally stops it and Jessamyn Duke has just served notice in her pro debut.

Sarah Moras vs. Raquel Pennington

Round 1 – OK, finally got the stream, so I’m checking in to take over! Moras doubles up on her jab to start, then drives for a takedown. Pennington fighting it off on the cage. She drops for a single but slips and hits the mat. Moras quickly scrambles up and goes right back for the leg. She gets the takedown and is on top in a guillotine. Pennington still squeezing but Moras looks to be safe as she tries to pass to the left. She does and is now in side control. Pennington scrambles and gets to her feet. Moras is all over her giving her no room to separate. She drags Pennington right back down to the mat. So far wrestling has been the story in this one. Pennington gets a sweep but leaves an arm hanging out. Moras goes for the armbar but Pennington recognizes the trouble and pulls free. Moras staying busy on her back and swings her hips for another armbar attempt. She’s now working a very high guard as Pennington tries to break loose and land some strikes. Good defense from the top. Right hands score for Pennington. Elbows from Moras now off her back. Moras goes for an arm then transitions to a triangle attempt. Moras scrambles late and ends the round on top. PMN scores the first round for Moras, 10-9.

Round 2 – Kick from Pennington to start. Moras returns fire then changes levels and gets an early takedown. Pennington working the omaplata and uses it to sweep. Moras on her back now but is still staying very busy from there. Pennington staying tight in the active guard of Moras. Hammerfists from the top. Moras goes to the rubber guard now, then kicks off and stands up. She immediately shoots from way outside and gets stuffed. Pennington goes to the front headlock and is controlling Moras from there. Short elbows from Pennington now. She’s back in the fight and winning the round so far. Pennington postures up and drops some big shots to the body. She backs off and Moras again shoots without a set up and gets stuffed again. Pennington now on the cage fighting off another attack from Moras. Moras locks her hands and snatches her off the cage getting another takedown. Pennington immediately goes for an arm. She has the head of Moras secured with her legs and is still hanging onto the arm. Round 2 goes to Pennington.

Round 3 – Jab Moras. Pennington returns fire. Moras goes right back to the takedown game and gets it. She’s stuck in the half guard of Pennington for now. She’s looking to pass as Pennington works to retain full guard. Pennington is using overhooks to control the posture of Moras and isn’t taking much punishment so far. Moras with a couple of shoulder strikes then goes back to trying for the pass. Instead it’s Pennington that retains full guard. Moras breaks free just long enough to land a left hand. More left hands from to top now. Pennington needs to get off her back, and she gets to in the form of a referee restart. Nice kick by Pennington. Right hand Pennington stops Moras in her tracks. Moras isn’t setting up her shots. She’s stuffed this time. Pennington standing over Moras and kicking her legs. Moras scrambles to her feet now and eats a jab, then another kick. Pennington getting the better of the exchanges for sure. Moras gets back to her feet and pumps out a double jab. Pennington goes high with the kick and connects. Moras drives into her after the kick but ends up turtled up in the center of the cage. Pennington is on top and sneaks in a right hand under the arm, then follows up with a short flurry. Wow, hard round to score there. PMN goes with Pennington with the strong finish. PMN scores the fight 29-28 for Pennington.

Angelica Chavez vs. Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc

Round 1 – Calanoc comes out with a bang, landing some bombs right off the bat, backing Chavez into the cage. Chavez stays calm with her back on the cage. They hit the deck for a moment but scramble right back to their feet. Calanoc keeping the pressure on, pressing Chavez right back into the cage. Chavez turns and takes the center of the cage. Huge exchange now, but it’s Calanoc that lands more in the pocket. Now she’s on top landing a blistering batch of left hands. Chavez is a tough kid man. She works to full guard and is now trying to control the posture of Calanoc, but she’s getting dominated as time runs down on the opening round. Calanoc still on top grinding out an early lead as the round ends. All Calanoc, 10-9.

Round 2 – Calanoc firing off again forcing Chavez to desperately shoot for a takedown. No dice. Not even close, and now Calanoc continues to come forward peppering Chavez up and into the cage. They are battling in the clinch now. Calanoc breaks free and lands another flurry in close quarters. Chavez briefly goes for a guillotine but Calanoc pops free. The break, and again it’s Calanoc that comes forward with a front kick then closes and puts Chavez back on the cage. Chavez turns and looks for an ankle but can’t manage to get the fight to the mat. Calanoc puts Chavez right back on the cage. This time Chavez jumps guard and is trying to get something going from her back. Calanoc grinding away with short elbows from the right side. Chavez throws up her legs looking for an armbar but Calanoc recognizes the danger and postures out. Nice upkick from Chavez but that’s about all she’s managed to this point. Under a minute to go. Calanoc on top and dominating this bout so far. Another 10-9 for her.

Round 3 – Final round. Chavez needs a finish to win this one. She wings a right hand that lands, but Calanoc walks through it and lands another flurry as she closes distance. Calanoc has Chavez pressed on the cage again. Chavez really needs something to change quickly as this round looks just like the two previous ones so far. Clinch battle now. Chavez looking for a takedown but ends up on her back again. She has an arm now but just as quickly as Chavez secures the arm, Calanoc rips it free. Another upkick lands for Chavez. Calanoc grinding again from the top after eating that kick. Chavez transitions to a triangle attempt. Calanoc again recognizes the danger early and works free. Right hands from Chavez off her back but that won’t be enough to change her fortunes in this one. Short, grinding elbows from the top now by Calanoc with just over a minute to go. Chavez scrambles and takes the back of Calanoc. She’s looking for the choke now. Calanoc somehow turns into the choke and is back on top. Now Chavez has an arm and is grimacing trying to finish. Wow!! Calanoc survives to the bell. Exciting finish! PMN scores it for Calanoc 30-27.

Sarah Schneider vs. Carla Esparza

Round 1 – Schneider is the hometown favorite but Esparza is as tough as they come. Big John gets the call. Here we go. Esparza stalking to start. Big lead right hand from Esparza. Schneider circling and using lots of footwork. She catches a kick from Esparza and looks for the takedown. They fly across the cage with Schneider working the fight to the mat. Esparza bounces right back to her feet. Schneider gets another takedown and is now on top and in full mount. Esparza battling to get back to half guard. She’s staying busy off her back but so far Schneider is controlling the bout from the top. Esparza kicks off, then scrambles to her feet looking for a takedown of her own. Transitions and scrambles are the name of the game so far. Hip toss by Esparza. Schneider goes for an ankle now. Esparza spins out and gets back to her feet. Esparza with a flurry in the pocket dropping big right hands on the face of Schneider. Schneider drops for a takedown but ends up on her back. Esparza is on top stacking Schneider now with under a minute to go. Right hand from the top. Esparza postures and drops some shots from the top. Schneider goes for a sweep but Esparza ends the round on top. PMN scores round 1 for Esparza.

Round 2 – Esparza takes the center of the cage to start the second. Esparza lands a kick as Schneider gets on her wheels and circles out. Esparza comes forward with a flurry and lands a barrage of strikes, alternating left and right hands. Schneider goes for the takedown. Esparza ends up on the back looking for the rear naked choke. These two are doing work. Nonstop action. Esparza taking control of the fight now. She’s in side control landing big shots from the top. She moves to full mount and peppers Schneider with ground-and-pound. Schneider scrambles to her feet after Esparza looks to take the back. Big shots from Esparza after yet another scramble. Schneider scrambles looking to reverse but Esparza maintains control. Schneider throws her legs up and locks up the head of Esparza. Esparza keeps punching, frees her head then goes back to the full mount. Big shots from the top. Schneider rolls and now Esparza is on her back landing more punches. Big John steps in closer for a look. Esparza continues the assault and it’s all over. Impressive finish by Esparza.

Julia Budd vs. Elina Nilsson

Round 1 – This one should be exciting. Push kick from Budd. Nilsson with a jab then a right hand. Budd ducks under and shoots for a double. Easy takedown for Budd. That was definitely unexpected. Nilsson is trying to get her hips out but so far Budd is controlling her against the cage from the top. Nilsson going with a modified butterfly guard. Budd moves to side control, then moves to full mount. Budd firing off right hands now. She changes to elbows from the left now as Nilsson covers up. Budd doing damage from the top now as the referee looks on. Budd moves back to full guard and pours on a barrage of elbows as Nilsson covers up. The referee has seen enough and stops the bout.

Barb Honchak vs. Bethany Marshall

Round 1 – Bell. Here we go. Marshall goes high with the kick to start but Honchak steps away. Honchak closes, clinches, and takes the fight to the mat. Honchak on the back of Marshall now. She softens Marshall up with right hands and is looking for an opening for the choke. Marshall is trying for the two-on-one but she’s in trouble early. Honchak with stifling control from the back so far. She transitions during the scramble to full mount. Elbows now. Marshall still scrambling but gives up her arm. Honchak ends up on her back going for the sub. She quickly sweeps Marshall and is back on top. Total domination on the ground in this one. Honchak throws the legs of Marshall to the side and moves to side mount easily. She then steps over to full mount. Marshall tries to use the cage and her length to escape but she’s getting pounded by right hands and elbows. Honchak right back to full mount. Marshall finishes the round on the bottom. Easy round for Honchak.

Round 2 – Honchak counters a kick by Marshall, tattooing her with a right hand. Honchak drives forward and puts Marshall on the cage. They hit the mat after Marshall drags Honchak to the canvas. Honchak again moves to full mount and pours it on. She’s delivering some serious punishment as Big John steps closer. He’s seen enough.

Sarah D’Alelio vs. Vanessa Porto

Round 1 – I’m going to use “DA” for D’Alelio in this play-by-play. I don’t think I can type D’Alelio without looking at the keyboard and I’m blind as hell. DA flashes her jab to start. Porto counters a one-two by DA but just misses. Nice kick by Porto, but DA comes over the top with a big right hand. Porto resets and they stand in the pocket and start throwing bombs. They lock up and hit the mat. Porto on top. DA comes back in a scramble but gives up an arm. Porto working on the arm now as DA stands over her. DA landing big right hands with her left arm still stuck in a sub attempt. Porto scrambles and puts DA on her back. DA working on a kimura. Porto tries to free her arm and now has DA on her back still holding the arm but she’s really, really high. Porto looks to escape out the back door. DA still holding on to that arm however. DA locks her legs and torques the arm and the tap comes! Wow! D’Alelio pulls out a huge upset win.

Amanda Nunes vs. Raquel Pa’aluhi

Round 1 – I’m going for it… going with Pa’aluhi instead of shortening up her name. It flows better on the keyboard. Let’s do this! Touch of gloves. Nunes coming forward and lands a monster leg kick. Again. Another, but this time Pa’aluhi drives forward and gets the takedown. Pa’aluhi on her back but she’s really high. Nunes shaking her off, but Pa’aluhi uses a body triangle to remain on the back. Nunes fighting off the rear naked attempts so far. Nunes rolls, still trying to shake Pa’aluhi off. Nunes turns in and is free. Nunes takes the back of Pa’aluhi and goes for an RNC of her own. Pa’aluhi is in trouble. As a matter of fact, she’s completely asleep. Big win for Nunes.

Ayaka Hamasaki vs. Lacey Schuckman

Round 1 – Schuckman winging punches early. Hamasaki immediately puts her on her back. Schuckman with an upkick that lands to the head of the grounded Hamasaki. Hamasaki keeps working from the top despite the kick. Hamasaki in the half guard looking to pass. She’s looking for the right arm of Schuckman, then passes to side control. Schuckman uses the cage to kick off. She gets to her feet and presses Hamasaki into the cage. Hamasaki goes to the judo now and gets a beautiful throw, putting Schuckman right back down on the canvas. Big right hand from Hamasaki. Schuckman kicks off but Hamasaki keeps coming, diving right back into the full guard. Hamasaki landing from the top now. More right hands land now. Schuckman fighting for wrist control. Hamasaki postures and lands a big left hand just before the bell. Dominating start for Hamasaki.

Round 2 – Hamasaki closes quickly avoiding a kick from Schuckman and delivering a big right hand. Nice flurry by Hamasaki inside. Schuckman closes and clinches. Again Hamasaki puts Schuckman on her back with a throw. Big upkick from Schuckman. She is still battling for wrist control, but Hamasaki manages to break free long enough to land short shots from the top. Hamasaki pouring it on now. She’s dominating the bout with her control. Schuckman opens up her guard but she’s not doing much off her back. Hamasaki with some short left hands now. Right hands from the top now. Hamasaki stands over Schuckman and drops some big right hands. She dives into the guard of Schuckman. Now half guard. Hamasaki trying to free her leg and move to side mount. Instead, she snatches an arm and goes for the finish. Schuckman survives. Another big round for Hamasaki.

Round 3 – Schuckman fires off a kick to start the third. Hamasaki stalking. Another takedown for Hamasaki. This is not where Schuckman wants to be this early in the final round. Hamasaki back in the half guard. Schuckman retains gaurd but eats a flurry of left hands. Hamasaki unleashes a barrage of hammerfists. Now a big, winging left hand. Total domination. Hamasaki turning up the heat, peppering Schuckman with short left hands. Hamasaki in side mount now. Schuckman locks up the neck of Hamasaki but she’s in no danger. Hamasaki with more right hands now. Schuckman looks to use the cage but gets caught in another armbar. She’s in deep trouble here. Hamasaki is in no hurry, she’s being really patient with the submission. She extends the arm, and somehow Schuckman survives. Hamasaki adjusts, flexes, extends, and it’s over.

Liz Carmouche vs. Kaitlin Young

Round 1 – Semper Fi to Liz Carmouche from one Devil Dog to another. Carmouche with a kick to start. Young stands in and lands a straight right. To the clinch now. Carmouche puts Young on the cage. Young spins and puts Carmouche on the fence. It’s a war inside. They break and Young comes forward. Trade of kicks now. Young still stalking and lands a nice right hand. Young measures Carmouche with her jab, then lands a monster right hand that snaps the head back. Carmouche closes. Back to the clinch again. Young looks good in the clinch so far. Carmouche with a short knee inside. Young fires back with knees. Break. Young coming forward again. Jab. Kick Carmouche. Young is countering nicely with her left hand. Big kick from Young. Nice exchange now. Young is making Carmouche fight backing up. Carmouche is on the cage again, and is now eating knees to the thighs. Carmouche gets a late takedown and is now on top with under 30 to go. Young is using overhooks to control the posture of Carmouche nicely. End of round. PMN scores the first for Young, 10-9.

Round 2 – Carmouche misses with the kick. Young coming forward again, flashing her jab. Carmouche goes upstairs but it’s blocked. Big kick to the body by Carmouche. Young kicks back, but Carmouche ducks under and gets a big slam. She lands in side control and is going to work on the body of Young. Young scrambles and retains guard. Young staying busy on her back, looking for angles. Carmouche firing off knees up the middle. Young throws her legs up looking for a triangle and uses it to escape. Carmouche scrambles and maintains top control. She moves to full mount and goes to work with left hands. Now right hands. She’s landing big shots now from the top. Young rolls and Carmouche takes her back. She has both hooks in, then unleashes heels to the body. Carmouche now looking for the choke and it’s tight! The tap comes.

Alexis Davis vs. Hitomi Akano

Round 1 – Akano closes quickly, throwing a kick. Davis shrugs it off and shoves Akano backward. Davis lands a nice inside leg kick. Akano now on her back. Davis standing over the guard of Akano. Davis kicks the legs as Akano keeps firing off kicks from her back. Akano is scooting around, then bounces to her feet. Davis stalking Akano now. Akano has a herky-jerky style. Davis keeps coming forward as Akano circles continuously. Big kick to the body by Davis. Davis closes and Akano drops for a throw. She ends up turtled up with Davis landing knees from the top. Davis backs up and makes Akano get back to her feet. Jab Davis. Akano goes high with a kick then eats a left hand. Davis to the body with her right hand. End of Round 1. PMN scores it for Davis, 10-9.

Round 2 – Akano walks into range and gets tagged. Davis now on top and in side control. Short left hands from Davis. Akano looking for an opening against the cage. Davis controlling from the top. She fires off a flurry of left hands forcing Akano to scramble out of trouble. Davis is in the half guard of Akano, but more on her back, still firing off left hands. Now she takes the back and flattens Akano out. Davis looking for the choke. She sneaks her arm under the chin as Akano fights for wrist control. Davis has the body secured with a nasty body triangle. The arm is under the chin and Akano is grimacing and then taps. What a finish for Davis.

Shayna Baszler vs. Sara McMann

Round 1 – Baszler flashes her jab. McMann fires back. To the body, then a nice kick by McMann. Baszler returns fire with a kick. These two are exchanging early. Nice one-two from McMann. McMann working the body with her punches. Nice punch-kick combo from Baszler. McMann just misses with an uppercut. Baszler to the body with the kick. McMann sizzles Baszler with an overhand right counter. Baszler doubles up on the jab. McMann steps in, scores, and gets out. McMann looking to counter the kicks of Baszler with her right hand. No takedown attempts yet from the Olympic silver medalist. Both ladies stand in the pocket and exchange with just under a minute to go. McMann closes and puts Baszler on the cage. She elevates the taller Baszler but can’t get the takedown. Both fighters flurry to the body to the bell. End of Round 1. PMN scores a very close opening round for McMann.

Round 2 – Jab Baszler. Body shot McMann. Exchange of kicks. Baszler sticks McMann with a right hand as she tries to step inside. McMann with a winging overhand right. Baszler moving well, then firing off combinations. Kicks by both fighters score. Baszler still showing her jab as instructed. She throws a kick and McMann catches the leg and gets the takedown. Baszler working a high guard staying very active. She scrambles out and goes for a leg. McMann triangles her legs to defend against Baszler’s attack on her foot. Baszler looks to her corner listening for Barnett to instruct her. McMann throws a few right hands but is still in trouble. Baszler goes for the kneebar but McMann scrambles out. Baszler dives into the guard of McMann, then easily passes to side mount. She softens McMann up with punches, then moves to north-south. McMann scrambles up to her feet. They reset and stand in the pocket throwing caution to the wind. McMann flurries but Baszler avoids the bigger shots. McMann gets a late takedown. Another good round. PMN scores the round for McMann, but it could have went either way.

Round 3 – McMann swinging early, but misses with a wild uppercut. Baszler is throwing straight jabs. McMann ducks in and throws a flurry but only lands a couple of the strikes. She appears busier though which may sway the judges. McMann ducks in and gets a quick single leg. Baszler hits the mat but McMann backs off and lets her stand. Nice three-punch combo from McMann. Jab Baszler. Kick McMann. McMann ducks under a right hand and gets the takedown. Back to the feet with McMann pinning Baszler on the cage. Left hands from McMann and the mouthpiece comes out. Big John retrieves it but doesn’t stop the fight. McMann pressing Baszler into the cage and doing work inside. One minute to go. Knees from McMann now. McMann has double unders, but Big John intervenes. He gives Baszler her mouthpiece back and they reset. Right hand McMann. Baszler to the body with a kick. McMann counters with punches to the body. They end with a flurry. PMN scores it 30-27 for Sara McMann.
