WAYNE, NJ (March 21, 2011) — Grapplers Quest will host the 2012 East Coast Grappling Championships, aka “Beast of the East,” this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, March 24-25) at The Wayne Police Athletic League (located at 1 PAL Drive) in Wayne, New Jersey. Three hundred Championship titles in Submission Grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Wrestling will be contested for cash and prizes valued at $17,000, including custom championship belts, medallions, and certificates for champions.

“Beast of the East” is an open tournament for all styles of ground fighters. Competitors of all ages and skill levels participate in this event that is open to all grappling styles in order to determine this year’s best grapplers on the East Coast of the United States.

Fighters may pre-register to compete online until Thursday, Mar. 22 at 5:00 PM/EST and get a Free TapouT T-Shirt at: http://bit.ly/xQxPd4 OR at the venue (Wayne PAL located at 1 PAL Drive in Wayne, NJ), on Friday, Mar. 23 between 5-8 PM/EST and Saturday and Sunday Mar. 24-25, starting at 8:00 AM/ET. All competitors, ages, skill levels, teams and independents are welcome.

Two-Day Spectator Passes are available to purchase in advance for only $15 ($25 off at-the-door) by going to http://bit.ly/GEMXqZ, or the night of the event available at the door for $20 each per day (adults), $10 (children), and free for children under six. Competition begins at 11:00 AM/ET. $1 from every ticket pre-sold will be donated to benefit Autism (http://AutismRadio.org – a 501c3 charitable organization helping families with Autism directly).

Free Seminars for Competitors only: MMA fighter and Strikeforce veteran, Bill “The Grill” Cooper, will be conducting two free training sessions for pre-registered Grapplers Quest competitors both days, starting at 10:30 AM/ET, to raise awareness for AutismRadio.org. The United States Marine Corp is also hosting “Fitness Challenge”, a Boot-Camp style exercise competition each day at Grapplers Quest starting at 9:30 AM for all registered competitors with certificates for participation.

Grappling is the fast-paced ground fighting art of Mixed Martial Arts, combining the throws of Olympic Judo, takedowns of Greco Roman and Freestyle Wrestling, Leg Locks from Sambo, and other Submissions from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu-like arm bars, shoulder locks and chokes. More than 200 competition teams and 1,000 competitors are expected to participate from 27 countries including United States, Brazil, Canada, Russia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Japan, Croatia, Holland, England, France, and Australia.
