ProMMAnow.com‘s (www.prommanow.com) Jack Bratcher spent several minutes Wednesday talking with Bellator Fighting Championships Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney about Viacom purchasing a majority stake in the company, why it was the right time for the partnership and the benefits of working with the people who he feels “wrote the book” on mixed martial arts television.

Rebney discussed their reasons for moving the weekly Bellator show from Saturday night to Friday night for season six and he shared his thoughts on going head-to-head with the UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter reality show, which will also be moving to Friday nights in 2012.

Rebney shared his thoughts on Spike TV counter-programming the UFC on FOX 2 event and also confirmed that Bellator season six preliminary card bouts will continue to stream live on Spike.com. Rebney also shared his enthusiasm for moving Bellator programming to Spike TV in 2013 and explained why it is a good thing for the fans and the sport.

Last but not least, Rebney filled us in on what is coming up next for some of Bellator’s biggest names including featherweight champ Joe Warren, season five bantamweight tournament finalist Alexis Vila, former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and middleweight champ Hector Lombard.
