The final two fights for UFC 142 were confirmed on Tuesday, rounding out the Jan. 14 fight card at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Welterweight contenders Paulo Thiago and Mike “Quicksand” Pyle will clash on the main card, while a heavyweight match-up between unbeaten Brazilian Edinaldo Oliveira and the U.K.’s Rob “The Bear” Broughton has been added to the preliminary card.

Thiago (14-3) is coming off a unanimous decision win over David Mitchell at UFC 134 on August 27, while Pyle (21-8-1) is coming off a first round TKO loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC 133 on August 6.

Making his UFC debut on this card, Oliveira (13-0-1, 1 NC) comes in having fought his whole career in Brazil. He fought six times already in 2011, knocking out four of the opponents.

Broughton’s (15-7-1) year has not gone as well. He fought twice in 2011, dropping unanimous decisions to Travis Browne at UFC 135 in September and Phillip De Fries at UFC 138 in November.

UFC 142 is headlined with a featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes. For the full fight card line-up see our ProMMAnow.com’s (www.prommanow.com) Upcoming Events page.
