Strikeforce Challengers 18, which took place Aug. 12 at the Pearl inside the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, was headlined by Jorge Gurgel vs. Joe Duarte, and also featured rising female MMA talent Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah D’Alelio on the undercard, brought in a live gate of $53,670.
Five-hundred-and-forty-nine tickets were sold for the event, while 1,341 tickets were given away to friends, family and V.I.P.’s and 66 tickets were left unsold.
Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer confirmed the live gate and ticket numbers via email on Tuesday.
Keep in mind, the Pearl is a relatively small venue which even at its max capacity, depending on configuration, only holds 2,500 people. However, it works well for television which seems to be one reason ZUFFA likes it.
