Bellator Fighting Championships will make their Canadian debut with Bellator 47 on Saturday, July 23, at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario. The event, which will feature Bellator’s summer featherweight tournament semifinals, will air LIVE on MTV 2.

In addition to the tournament bouts, Bellator 47 will also include a card packed with Canadian talent and headlined by Ontario native Chris Horodecki (17-3) vs. former Montreal resident Chris Saunders (9-1).

Horodecki is coming off a first round submission victory over Daniel Castillo at MMA: The Reckoning in April. And although Horodecki will have the experience advantage, he will have his hands full against Saunders, who is riding a seven fight win streak, most recently scoring a second round knockout of Cleber Luciano at International Fight Showdown 7 in April.

Horodecki commented:

“Fighting for a promotion like Bellator in front of my friends and family is just a dream come true. I had a great fight at Casino Rama back in April, and I’m just looking to build off that at Bellator 47.”

The complete lineup for Bellator 47’s Local Feature Fights are as follows:

  • Chris Horodecki vs. Chris Saunders
  • Daniel Langbeen vs. Will Romero
  • Alka Matewa vs. Alex Ricci
  • Syd Barnier vs. Denis Puric
  • Daron Cruickshank vs. Sergej Juskevic
  • Bo Harris vs. Bryan Goldsby
  • Lee Villeneuve vs. Christopher St. Jean

Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney shared his thoughts:

“Along with two unbelievable featherweight semifinal fights, our feature fights are loaded with great talent. Canada truly is a hotbed for our sport, and I can’t wait for Bellator 47 on July 23rd.”
