Bantamweight contenders Joseph Benavidez and Eddie Wineland are set to clash at UFC Live 5. The UFC announced the match up Tuesday night.
UFC Live 5, also known as UFC on Versus 5, takes place Aug. 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
Benavidez has won back-to-back fights after dropping a decision to Dominick Cruz in a WEC bantamweight title fight. Over the course of his career, Benavidez has defeated Jeff Curran, Rani Yahya and former WEC champion Miguel Torres.
Wineland defeated Antonio Banuelos to claim the WEC bantamweight title before Zuffa purchased the promotion. After dropping the belt to Chase Beebe, he received his walking papers. During his second stint in WEC/UFC, Wineland is 4-2 and has earned “Knockout of the Night” honors twice.
UFC Live 5 features a headlining lightweight contenders fight between Jim Miller and former WEC champion Ben Henderson.
