This is World Extreme Cagefighting!

Anthony “Showtime” Pettis lived up to his moniker Thursday evening at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Ariz. As his five round lightweight title fight against Ben Henderson at WEC 53 wound to a close in the final round, Pettis wanted to try to do something different to throw Henderson off guard and hopefully end the fight.

Pettis said he practices this kick all the time in the gym. They call it “The Showtime kick”. He threw it. It landed and it almost ended the fight. Henderson went down. He said at the post-fight press conference he was still conscious but definitely “woozy”.

It was the perfect way to close out the WEC”s final show and was a great reminder of what the organization was all about.
