HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Bellator 34, the final event of the Bellator Fighting Championships third season takes place this evening, Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The event features two title fights including current Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard taking on Russian knockout artist Alexander Shlemenko for the 185-pound strap, and the world’s most dangerous female submission fighter Megumi Fujii taking on striking sensation Zoila Frausto for the women’s 115-pound title.

The action airs live (in most markets) on FOX Sports Net starting at 8 p.m. ET. However, in some markets the event broadcast will be delayed so be sure to check you local listings. As always, ProMMAnow.com will provide LIVE results and play-by-play commentary.

Bellator 34 play-by-play:

Mike Bernhard vs. Dragan Tesanovic

Round 1 – Dragan lands a couple solid shots on the chin after a few exchanges and Bernhard puts him on his back. Dragan gets to his feet and eats a knee on the way up. Clinched against the cage. Still clinched with two minutes to go, foot stomps, knees, etc. Tesanovic shoots and gets stuffed and it’s back to the clinch against the cage. 40 seconds left in the round. Ref separates them. Bernhard gets the takedown at the bell. Prety uneventful round. ProMMAnow.com scores it 10-9 for Bernhard.

Round 2 –  Ref calls time even before the round starts due to a low kick he received at the end of the last round. Start. Dragan’s kick is blocked. Leg kick from Bernhard and Dragan gives one back. Head kick by Dragan scores and Tesanovic stops the bout to check his eye after he kept holding it. Restart. Leg kick from Dragan and Bernhard counters with a right cross. Bernard the aggressor, lands a leg kick. Ref stops the bout to check Tesanovic’s eye after an alleged eye poke.Big leg kick from Dragan. Two minutes and thirty seconds to go. Enormous straight left from Dragan scores big. Bernhard eats eat and is still there. The swing and clinch. Bernhard attempts a trip but no dice. He tries it again and gets it, on top in Dragan’s full guard. Dragan wraps him in half guard, Bernhard passes to side control. thirty seconds left. Dragan trying to sweep but Bernhard mounts the back, locks on a choke but Dragan is saved by the bell. ProMMAnow.com scores it 10-9 for Bernhard.

Round 3 – Inside leg kick from Teanovic, they exchange punches and he lands an uppercut too. Inside leg kick from Bernhard. Another from Bernhard. Bernhard staying on the outside, lands another inside leg kick though. Right hand by Bernhard and another inside leg kick. Straight left from Dragan. Two minutes to go and no one fighting desperately. Inside leg kick from Bernhard. Both guys being very conservative. Ref calls for work. Boos from the crowd start. Right jab from Dragan. Inside leg kick from Bernhard. Again. Dragan swings two punches and misses both. Terrible terrible ridiculous round. They should make them both lose for that piece of crap. I’m serious… both guys just tried to ride that round out — maybe they thought they each were ahead — I don’t know why they did it, but it was appalling. ProMMAnow.com scores that round a draw 8-8. And ProMMAnow.com scores the fight a draw at 27-27. Honestly neither fighter deserves a win and hopefully the judges make a statement here and give this a draw.

Megumi Fujii vs. Zoila Frausto

Round 1 – Zoila trying to keep Fujii at bay with jabs and punches. Fujii eats a right. Fujii throws a couple punches too and a high kick. Fijii the hunter now. Fujii throws a combo that misses, another. Fujii drops Frausto with  a big left. Frausto gets up. Fujii putting on the pressure choosing to stand with Frausto so far. Left, right from Fujii. Frausto with a high kick that misses big time. Fujii misses with a high kick. Fijii still the aggressor. Left hand from Fujii, lands a left. Fujii lands a straight left then a leg kick. Fujii is winning on the feet this is amazing. Frausto looks tentative and nervous. She misses with a right and a couple of combos all telegraphed and missing. Another combo from Frausto that misses, but she then lands a head kick on Fujii that rocks her. Frausto tries to pounce on Fujii but only a couple seconds left, Fujii shoots and gets stuffed at the bell. ProMMAnow.com gives the round to Frausto 10-9.

Round 2 – The replay shows that shin on the chin head kick was perfect. Fujii stalking again. She lands a quick punch. Straight left from Fujii. She seems completely recovered. Straight left from Fujii. Fujii is out striking this girl. Frausto throws a high kick and gets it caught, Fujii lets it go. The ladies are both looking to land strikes, Fujii gets in the pocket throws a combo of punches, Frausto fires back. Fujii back to the hunt, moving in on Frausto, they both exchange combos again. Nothing landing hard. Big left from Fujii partially connects. Again. Left from Fujii and a one, two from Zoila. One minute to go. Fujii hunting she catches a kick and lets it go. 25 seconds to go. Leg kick from Frausto. Head kick misses from Frausto. ProMMAnow.com scores that round for Fujii 10-9.

Round 3 – Frausto’s face looks swollen and red. Nice left from Frausto. Fujii with the jab, again. She’s moving in, straight left. Leg kick from Zoila. Left, right from Fujii, then works the jab. Frausto’s back against the cage and Fujii walking her down. One,two from Fujii, Frausto throws a kick that misses. Fujii working the jab from the outside. Big right from Frausto, she thinks it hurt her and is hunting. Lands a left and barely misses a head kick as Fujii ducks. Fujii is standing with her and Frausto trying to finish. She lands a left. Fujii takes a big leg kick. Big right from Frausto just misses. Frausto wants the KO. Fujii not even thinking of a takedown so far. One, two from Fujii. Big leg kick from Frausto, she swings for the fences and misses. Fujii throws back with big punches. Fujii has a big mouse under her eye. ProMMAnow.com scores it for Frausto 10-9.

Round 4 – Both ladies throw several shots but missing on all so far. Barnett told Fujii to get the fight to the ground between rounds according to Jimmy Smith. Straight left connects from Fujii. Frausto lands a leg kick. Leg kick from Frausto, again. Left hand from Frausto then a big leg kick. Left hand from Fujii then she clinches. They exchange knees. Knees to the body from Fujii. More knees from Fujii to the thighs and body. Zoila lands a knee or two. Frausto turns and puts Fujii against the cage. Fujii lands a knee to the face of Frausto. Still clinched. Fujii tries to throw Frausto from the clinch but can’t get it. they square up again. Fujii hunting with punches. Frausto swings big big shots but misses. Close round, ProMMAnow.com scores it 10-9 for Fujii for ring control and what she did in the clinch. It was very close though and could see it for Frausto too.

Round 5 – Fujii shoots, gets stuffed. Gurgel told Frausto she had won all four rounds. Smith disagrees. Me too. Leg kick from Frausto. Nice punches from Fujii as she moves inside. Fujii is bleeding. Zoila swings for the fences and misses. Fujii locks up and lands a knee on the exit. Left hand by Fujii. Body punch by Frausto. One, two from Fujii. Frausto just can’t land the big shot. Big left hand from Fujii. Again. Frausto fires back and misses. Fujii gets a single leg trying hard to get it but Frausto stops it. Fujii lands a big left on the break. Fujii putting on the pressure and fighting with more urgency. She finally gets a big takedown with 30 seconds left. Frausto gets full guard with ten seconds to go and that is it my friends.  Frausto throws up her hands, drops to her knees and prays. Fujii puts up her hands too. NOTES: Fujii said she wanted to fight Frausto in her area [striking] and beat her there. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for  her this time and her 22 fight win streak comes to a close. Frausto is the first Bellator 115 lb. women’s champion.

Hector Lombard vs. Alexander Shlemenko

Round 1 – A head kick is blocked by Lombard. He firest back with big punches but Shlemenko covers up and survives. He backs up and is bouncing on his toes. Spinning backfist by Shlemenko but Lombard ducks and makes him pay with big shots, Lombard getrs the takedown and starts pounding. Shlemenko gives up his back and gets to his feet. There’s blood coming from somewhere. Lombard has a cut on his head. He catches a kick from Shlemenko and puts him on his back. Shlemenko locks on the full guard. Ref warns Lombard for thumbs in the eye. Big big elbows from Lombard on top. Shlemenko sweeps and gets the mount. Lombard gives up his back, Shlemenko slides off and Lombard is on top in his guard. Lombard with punches and Shlemenko has a big knot on his forehead. Lombard has to be careful not to tire out. Big left elbow from Lombard and you hear Shlemenko’s head bounce off the mat. Lombard postures up with big right hands. Another nice elbow from Lombard. Shlemenko holding on to Lombard’s arms, trying to anyway. At the same time he has a closed guard. Round 2 – Spinning backfist and then a spinning kick by Shlemenko, Lombard evades both and gets the body lock from behind. Shlemenko warned for hanging on the fence. They separate and square up. Nice head kick from Shlemenko then a side kick. Lombard gets the takedown rather easily. Shlemenko with the full guard. Lombard back to the ground and pound. Lombard and Shlemenko warned to improve position. Shlemenko gives up his back and gets to his feet but Lombard takes him immediately down but Shlemenko gets up again. they are clinched with Lombard having underhooks. Shlemenko gets out and lands a body kick. Big right from Lombard. Lombard hunting. He gets a double leg as Shlemenko goes for a knee strike. Ten seconds to go. Round 3 – Time called before the round starts to check out the enormous knot on Shlemenko’s head. They let it go. They both exchange from the pocket and Shlemenko eats a big punch. Shlemenko throws a spinning backfist that misses. Nice knee to the body from Shlemenko. Lombard shoots and gets the takedown. Lombard back to the ground and pound, lands an elbow. Open guard from Shlemenko. Closed guard. Body shots from Lombard. Shlemenko looks to the ref asking for a stand up and he gets it. Nice knee to the body from Shlemenko. Big body shot by Shlemenko then a knee. Body kick by Shlemenko and Lombard gets the takedown. Ref stands them up. Spinning back kick to the body of Lombard and he doesn’t even wince. Lombard gets the takedown and Shlemenko pops up. ProMMAnow.com scores it 10-9 for Lombard.

Round 4 – Side kick to the body from Slhlemenko. Spinning heel kick misses from Shlemenko. Lombard locks him up and gets the takedown. Shlemenko locks on the closed guard. Crowd boos at the slowed pace. Shlemenko gets to his feet but Lombard holds on to the clinch. Shlemenko gets the Thai clinch and lands a couple knees to the body, but Lombard puts him down. Lombard takes his back, looking for the choke as Shlemenko turtles. Shlemenko stands up, Lombard has a body lock . 1:45 left in the round and fight and Lombard puts him down but Shlemenko stands right up. They separate and square up. Shlemenko swings and misses. Lombard catches a kick, throws a punch and gets the takedown. Lombard has slowed big time but he’s still effective with the takedowns. Shlemenko looking at the ref for another stand up. 20 seconds to go, Ref tells them to improve position. He stands them up. ProMMAnow.com awards the round for Lombard 10-9.

Round 5 – Time is called to look in Shlemenko’s ear. Shlemenko throws a high kick that misses. Knee to the body and a punch lands for Shlemenko. Lombard fires back, shoots but can’t get the takedown. they square up, Shlemenko gets distance trying to set something up. Throws a three punch combo and a kick and misses with all of them. Spinning backfist lands but Lombard is unaffected. Lombard standing in the center of the cage, catches a kick, grabs a body lock and puts Shlemenko down. Shlemenko grabs the fence to pull himself to his feet but the ref catches him. Shlemenko turtles up and Lombard hangs on his back as the crowd boos at the snail’s pace. One would think this is a heavyweight bout almost. Ref stands them up. Spinning backfist and a punch lands from Shlemenko. He then stuffs Lombard’s takedown. Lombard with the body lock and they stale mate in a clinch. Ref separates them. 45 seconds to go. Two rights from Shlemenko and a body kick. Lombard gets a body lock and takedown. Shlemenko gets up and the bell sounds as Lombard holds on. ProMMAnow.com scores it 10-9 and 50-45 for Lombard.

NOTES: Hector Lombard retains his 185-pound Bellator Title. He calls out Jacare and says he wants his belt. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is the Strikeforce middleweight champ. It’s very interesting all the Bellator champs call out the Strikeforce guys. I wonder if they tell them to do that?

  1. Another person who saw the fight for Fujii. I’m starting to see a trend. I’m guessing the first and fourth were the swing rounds.
