The Ultimate Fighter season five winner Nate Diaz (12-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) will face Marcus Davis (17-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) on Aug. 28 at UFC 118 when the Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its Boston debut at the TD Garden.

Diaz has a $7,500 fine that must be paid to the Tennessee State Athletic Commission before he can compete in the bout, due to a post-fight scuffle he was involved in at “Strikeforce: Nashville” in April.

According to reports, Diaz’s manager and trainer, Cesar Gracie, said his fighter intends to pay the fine in time for the bout.

Diaz is coming off a first round knockout of Rory Markham at UFC 111 in March. Davis is also coming off a knockout victory, a second round TKO over Jonathan Goulet at UFC 113 in May.

This fight will mark Diaz’s second fight at welterweight since moving up from the 155 lbs. division.

UFC 118 in Boston is headlined by a lightweight title fight rematch between newly-crowned champion Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn, and a co-main event between James Toney and Randy Couture.
