For the second summer in a row, Grapplers Quest hosted a grappling tournament in conjunction with the UFC Fan Expo. The event spanned over two days. Headlining the event were several superfights between established grapplers and MMA fighters.

On Friday, former ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion Penny Thomas defeated Elite XC and Strikeforce veteran Shayna Bazler by rear-naked choke. Also, multiple-time Grapplers Quest champion Bill Cooper was able to defeated UFC veteran Hermes Franca by a 4-2 score.

The event returned on Saturday with three more superfights. Current WEC lightweight and former Oklahoma State wrestler Shane Roller submitted former Pride FC champion Takanori Gomi by rear-naked choke.

WEC veteran and former Brazilian jiu-jistu world champion Fredson Paixao took a 4-2 victory over UFC veteran Caol Uno. Also Grappler Quest regular Jeff Glover scored in the last seconds of his bout with WEC fighter Javier Vzquez to take a 4-2 points victory.

The Grapplers Quest event at the UFC Fan Expo featured over 1,500 competitors over the weekend. The company has announced that these matches will be made available online throughout the upcoming weekend. Stay close to ProMMANow.com for the videos.
