LAS VEGAS, Nev. – “UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans” takes place tonight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Headlining the event is the long awaited bad blood match between former UFC light heavyweight champions and TUF 10 opposing coaches Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “Suga” Rashad Evans.

Also on the card is a co-main event match-up between England’s Michael Bisping and middleweight prospect Dan Miller, Antonio Rogerio “Minotor” Nogueira will take on Omaha’s Jason Brilz, heavyweights Todd Duffee and Mike Russow will clash, and Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez will fight John “The Hitman” Hathaway in a welterweight showdown.

Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon

Round 1 – Here we go. Leg kick for Lauzon. Lauzon swings, Escudero counters. Lauzon switching stances. Leg kick for Escudero. Lauzon misses with a punch, Escudero grabs a clinch and lands a knee. Escudero throws multiple knees and a flying knee from the Thai clinch. Escudero pressing Dan into the cage, holding a leg. He lets go of the leg, they square up again, and trade punches. Leg kick scores for Escudero. Superman punch from Lauzon just misses. Escudero has a cut between the eyes. Leg kick for Escudero. Leg kick for Escudero, Dan feints, and the bell sounds. I give the first round to Escudero 10-9.

Round 2 – Leg kick misses by Escudero. Escudero comes in throwing several punches and knees, an enormous 50-strike barrage. Lauzon covered and survived. Lauzon shoots, pushes Escudero into the cage. Escudero stops the takedown. Lauzon looks to be slowing. Lands a very slow leg kick. Leg kick Escudero. Leg kick from Escudero, again. Big leg kick from Escudero. Lauzon falls to the ground, mostly from being tired it looked like. He gets up, catches a leg kick from Escudero. Iscudero attacks as the round comes to an end. Escudero gets that round 10-9.

Round 3 – Lauzon looked defeated in his eyes between rounds. Leg kick scores for Escudero, and Lauzon lands one in the groin of Escudero. Brief time out called. Leg kick scores for Escudero. Lauzon lands a straight left. Lauzon swings and misses with a few shots, Escudero fires back, misses. Escudero lands a couple punches, pushes Lauzon against the cage. They square up again. Leg kick scores for Escudero. Lauzon not being aggressive at all, looking to counter, but not being effective. Leg kick by Escudero. Switch kick by Lauzon misses. Crowd boos at the inactivity. Kick to the groin by Escudero and Lauzon falls to the mat; he’s hurt badly by that one. Escudero loses a point. Ten seconds left and both guys are going crazy. Blood is trickling down the side of Escudero’s head. Lauzon looked to have got the better of the exchange. Got to give the round to Lauzon because of the point deduction 10-9.

Amir Sadollah vs. Dong Hyun Kim

Round 1 – Kim with a leg kick and Sadollah does the same. Kim with a leg kick then a takedown scored easily. Kim in half guard. Sadollah gets full guard back. Sadollah stifling the ground and pound. Kim with a nice elbow, still on top. 2:00 left in the round. Kim back in half guard, tries to pass but Sadollah doing a good job from the bottom. Sadollah tries to stand and Kim takes his back. Kim has one hook in, now both hooks in. Sadoolah in turte position and Kim is up high as bell sounds. Kim gets first round 10-9.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Kim. Kim gets a leg and turns the corner, puts him down. Kim moves to side control . Kim looks for a crucifix, Sadollah gets out and up, throws a knee, Kim clinches, gets the takedown, but Sadollah pops up with Kim still holding him and Kim gets the solid takedown once more, inside full guard. Kim controlling from the top, looking for full mount. Kim traps Sadollah’s arm around his face underneath his head and landed some shots. Kim gets full mount, Sadollah gives up his back as the bell sounds. Kim gets the round 10-9.

Round 3 – Sadollah’s corner told him he’s down two rounds. Kim tries to remain unbeaten. Leg kick for Kim. Kim gets the leg turns the corner and it’s a text book takedown smooth as butter. Kim inside Sadollah’s full guard, pressing him against the cage. Sadollah trying to make his way to his feet, Kim gets full mount. Nice elbow from Kim. Kim postures up, tries to pass but Sadollah defends the pass well. Sadollah tries to stand and gets up, they square up again. Sadollah swings, Kim shoots, gets stuffed. Flying knee from Sadollah, Kim puts him down. Sadollah gets up. Lazy kick from Sadollah. Big right hand from Kim. Sadollah lands a few punches and a big right. Ten seconds left, Kim clinches and that’s it. 10-9 and 30-27 for Kim is my call.

Diego Sanchez vs. John Hathaway

Notes: Hathaway is undefeated with 13 wins 0 losses. Sanchez is 23-3, and this is his first fight back at welterweight.

Round 1 – Diego rushes to the center. Diego throws three punches and shoots. Hathaway, who is taller and has the reach advantage, stuffs it. Diego still working for the takedown but Hathaway turns him around, lands an elbow. Diego gets him down very briefly, but pops right up. They square up again. Leg kick by Hathaway. Right hand by Hathaway. Leg kick Hathaway. Huge knee catches Diego as he shoots. Diego goes down and Hathaway tries to finish with ground and pound. Diego recovers enough to hold on. Hathaway postures up and lands some nice shots. Diego recovers and gets full guard. Hathaway postures up lands a big elbow and a couple of punches. Diego holds on tight. 1:00 left in the round and Hathaway is in control from top position. Hathaway staying active from the top. Big left by Hathaway connects. Hathaway gets the round 10-9 and Diego gets up VERY slow. The replay of the knee is NASTY.

Round 2 – Leg kick Hathaway. Big left by Hathaway, then a leg kick. Big right by Diego lands but does no damage. Nice right by Hathaway. Nice left by Diego. Leg kick by Hathaway, Diego times it and gets the takedown. Hathaway, with back against the cage, trying to make his way up. Hathaway is up, Diego holding on to his leg. Nice elbow by Hathaway. Big right by Hathaway. Hathaway looks much bigger. Diego with two leg kicks. Big right as Diego keeps his lead hand down. Nice right hand by Hathaway. Diego has his hands down. Right hand by Diego. Big right by Hathaway, then a left as Sanchez looks pissed. Hathaway gets the round 10-9.

Round 3 – Diego with a right. Right scores for Hathaway. Straight left for Hathaway. Diego shoots, gets stuffed, eats a knee on the way up. Nice jab by Hathaway then a leg kick. Big right by Diego. Diego shoots, gets stuffed, they exchange punches. Right hand by Hathaway then a leg kick. Nice right for Hathaway then a left as Diego rushes in. One, two, head kick by Hathaway. Diego swinging but eating counter punches. Hathaway scores a quick takedown. Left hand by Diego. Right on the chin by Hathaway. That’s it and Hathaway just won the biggest fight of his career. 10-9 and 30-27 for Hathaway by my score.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Jason Brilz

Round 1 – Leg kick misses by Brilz. Leg kick by Nog. Knee by Nog as Brilz ducks in. Leg kick by Nog. Brilz stuffed on the takedown attempt. Nog with a knee to the body. Leg kick and Brilz catches it and gets the takedown. Brilz inside the guard of Nog. Nog with an elbow from the bottom. They scramble, Nog tries to reverse but Brilz takes his back briefly then puts him back on his back. Brilz lands some hammer fists. Nog escapes grabs Brilz from the back, drags him down. Brilz gets out and up lands a punch. Leg kick Brilz. Nog punchez, Brilz shoots, gets a single leg, gets stuffed. They square up again. Nog lands a couple punches before the bell. Close damn round. I give it to Brilz 10-9.

Round 2 – Leg kick, then a single leg by Brilz. Brilz gets the takedown and Nog locks on a guillotine but Brilz slips out and is in half guard. Nog sweeps, turns it around. Brilz locks on his own guillotine. Locks it very tight, he’s on top of Nog. Nog’s head is purple. Brilz let it go. Brilz now on top in side control. Brilz lands and elbow and is in half guard. Nog sweeps, has side control. Brilz escapes, north-south and they stand up. Nog punches and Brilz shoots, presses him against the cage, lands a nice right. Nice overhand right by Brilz. Brilz ducks the punch, shoots, misses the single. Nice right by Brilz. Knee by Nog. Left hand by Nog and huge right hand by Brilz. Nog was rocked and is backing up. Brilz I think could have finished it there. Another round for Brilz 10-9.

Round 3 – Brilz is smiling big. Brilz shoots, gets the single leg takedown. Nog puts on a guillotine but Brilz pops right out. Nog sweeps, gets on top. Brilz uses the fence to get up, shoots, gets the single and pushes Nog against the cage. Nog lands a couple punches. Brilz gets the single again and Nog sprawls. Nog gets out, locks on a choke from side but Brilz is free and up. Both guys are tired. Brilz gets the takedown, holding onto a single. Nog pulls him into a crucifix but Brilz escapes and gets on top. Beautiful sweep by Nog, lands in side control. Brilz recovers half guard. Fight ends with Nog on top. Great fight. Give the final round to Nog 10-9 but the fight to Brilz 29-28 is my call.

Notes: Crowd chanting “bullshit” and I agree with the crowd to be honest. The crowd boos Little Nog and cheers for Brilz. Brilz aays not to boo Nog. Brilz got a ton of fans from that fight. Now go check out my interview with him from two days ago.

Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow

Round 1 – Duffee comes out swinging, Russow shoots, gets stuffed. Big uppercut from Duffee, Russow goes down to a knee, gets up and Duffee starts swinging again. Nice left punches from Duffee. Russow shoots, gets stuffed. Russow moving like an over weight Travis Lutter. Duffee swingin big, nothing landing solid right now. Uppercut from Duffee. Big right hand from Duffee. Another big right from Duffee. Left hand from Russow. Big uppercut lands for Duffee. Russow has a chin for sure. Duffee wins the round 10-9.

Round 2 – Russow swings big, misses. Duffee has slowed. Russow lands a right. Duffee lands a few shots. Left hook by Russow. Big right by Duffee and Russow shoots, gets stuffed. Leg kick and a punch from Duffee. Duffee’s big muscles have slowed down and the crowd boos. Duffee can’t seem to find his range this round and Russow is just waiting. Duffee lands a left. Duffee gets the round 10-9 but it’s not pretty.

Round 3 – Russow’s corner told him to follow through with his takedowns. Russow goes for a n ugly looking takedown attempt. He’s so big it doesn’t look like he can get low enough to grab hold. Duffee swings away but lands nothing. Russow throws a punch here and there but never lands, or very rarely. Oh my god… holy mother of god… Mike Russow lands a bomb and the fight is over… Todd Duffee is out cold. Out of nowhere Mike Russow lands a big right on the button and it’s over. Everyone is completely stunned!!!  All you can do is laugh! Joe Rogan calls it the craziest thing he’s seen in ten years of calling fights. Russow said it was an awful fight. Rogan calls it the greatest one punch come from behind knock out in the history of the sport. Russow said he needs to get back in the gym and has a lot of work to do.

Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller

Round 1 – Nasty staredown. Bisping pushes his forehead into Miller and Miller pushes him back. Miller catches him with a left then a kick to the groin. Big right hand by Bisping. They exchange shots. And again they exchange and land. Leg kick from Miller. Nice right by Miller. Left jab by Bisping and Miller lands a leg kick. Miller counters and connects with a punch or two. Bisping scores with a leg kick and then a right hand. Left hand by Miller. Left hand by Bisping. Left jab by Bisping. Close round. I’d give it to Bisping 10-9.

Round 2 – Leg kick by Miller. Nice right hand by Bisping. Leg kick by Miller. Another leg kick for Miller. Head kick by Bisping and a leg kick returned by Miller. Big right hand by Bisping. Body shot by Miller. Leg kick by Miller. Right hand by Bisping. Right hand by Miller. Bisping catches Miller’s leg kick, fires off a punch. Nice right by Miller at the bell. Bisping gets the round 10-9 as I see it.

Round 3 – Bisping doesn’t even take the school between rounds. Leg kick by Miller. Right and a left score for Bisping. Big right by Miller lands. Miller moves in and eats a right. Leg kick from Miller, but eats a couple. Leg kick from Miller. Leg kick from Miller. Right hand by Bisping. Miller scores the takedown with 2:30 left in the round. Bisping wall walks up the cage, gets free. Nice right by Bisping and Miller shoots. Bisping looks at the clock: 1:00 minute to go. Miller connects, Bisping connects. I give the round to Bisping 10-9 and the fight to Bisping 30-27.

Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans

Round 1 – Here we go folks! The crowd boos as Rashad makes his entrance. Jackson looks absolutely focused and intense. Rashad may just look a tad nervous. How will they hold this cage together? How will they pull Rampage off him if he digs in? The whole place boos Rashad. Intense stare down, no touch of gloves. Referee had to back them up. Rampage comes stalking. Huge right hand by Rashad rocks Quinton, he rushes at him and they clinch. Rashad looking for the takedown. It’s a clinch war right now. Rashad drops for a double leg but lets it go as Rampage defends. Rampage grabs a Thai clinch, throws a knee. Ref separates them. Rashad sets it up with the hands and explodes with a takedown that puts him all the way across the cage. Rampage has half guard. Rampage stands and eats a big shot. Rashad pushing him against the cage, leaning on him. Ref separates them again. Rashad gets stuffed, Rampage swings. The first punch of the night was huge. Rashad got the round 10-9.

Round 2 – Rashad swings, initiates the clinch, pushes Rampage against the cage. The crowd boos. Rashad drops a level looking, lands a knee to the thigh. Rampage swings and misses. They break. Rashad shoots, gets the clinch, pushes him against the cage. Rashad punching his thighs and knee. Ref separates them. Rampage swings and misses. Rashad using a feeling jab and feints. Rampage plodding, no footwork. Uppercut from Rashad, then the clinch. Rashad pushes him against the cage again. Rashad goes for the takedown, has Rampage from behind.  They scramble, bell sounds. Rashad gets the round 10-9. Rampage’s round said he needs a knockout.

Round 3 – Rampage swings and misses, Rashad shoots, can’t get it. Rashad using lots of feints. Rampage stops Rashad’s shot and lands a big punch. Rashad is on the bottom with Rampage on top. Rampage tries to trap an arm, Rashad is up. 3:00 left in the round. Rashad is wobbly they stand up and Rampagge  squares up. Rashad swings and backs out. Rampage swings and Rashad gets the takedown. Rogan said it was an error for Rampage not to attack. Rashad with ground and pound, landing punches from side control. 70 seconds left. Rampage turtles and Rashad has him from the back. Rampage gets up and Rashad puts him back down, lands more punches. Rampage starting to get up 15 seconds left. Rampage swings and that’s it. I give the round 10-9 to Rashad and the fight 30-27 to Rashad. Great fight!!

  1. I can’t wait for tonight!! Woohooo! This is gonna be some fun stuff. Rampage is gonna knock Rashad’s head into the fifth row he’s so mad.

  2. I just don’t see a way that Rashad can win this fight. He’s not going to be able to just take Rampage down at will, and he can’t outbox him. What he should do is come in and kick like Jardine and Forrest did…. Rampage would never expect a gameplan like that from Rashad

  3. That was a fun card. Man Rashad really proved me wrong. I thought for sure Rampage would knock him out.
