Kingdom MMA’s inaugural event featuring Mayhem Miller vs. Kala ‘Kalohe’ Hose, has been postponed until April 18th due to a little known licensing rule in Hawaii. It seems the Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs (DCCA), the people who regulate all MMA events in Hawaii, have a new rule that all pro fighters must get HEP/HIV testing and physical clearance by a HAWAIIAN doctor.

Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller, who lives on the mainland (continental United States), has already been cleared by a doctor in the ‘lower 48’, which the DCCA says they will not accept. So, Miller is currently being evaluated and tested by a Hawaiian physician, which pushes the fight card back to the nearest available date at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, April 18th.

The headline match, which pits Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller against former ICON Sport Champion Kala ‘Kalohe’ Hose, will be for the 185 pound title. ‘Kalohe’, the native Hawaiian, seemingly has little regard for ‘Mayhem’ Miller. “I have already been having dreams of fighting Mr. Miller. He was a great champion, but he gained his fame from the Hawaiian fans and then turned his back on us. He better be ready for a war ..Hawaiian style!” stated Kala Hose.

In response, the normally laid back and joking Miller said, “Did he really say that about me? Does he remember how I dismantled the other Hawaiian fighters when they put me down? Maybe he should talk to Egan Inoue or Ron Jhun or Niko Vitale or Mark Moreno? He wants to make me out to be the bad guy? Fine. Bring it Kala.”

Kala ‘Kalohe’ Hose has a professional MMA record of 7-2, with all seven of his wins by way of (T)KO. His most notable win was a fifth round TKO of ‘The New York Badass’ Phil Baroni, in March of 2008. His two losses have come via one decision and one submission. This will be his first fight since August of ’08.

Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller has a wealth of experience with his 21-6 professional MMA record, with twelve of his twenty-one victories coming by way of submission. ‘Mayhem’ has fought the who’s who of MMA, with his most notable wins being submission victories over Dennis Kang by rear naked choke and Robbie Lawler via arm-triangle.

Since losing to now UFC Welterweight Champion, Georges St. Pierre by unanimous decision at UFC 52, Miller has impressively gone on to to win nine of eleven fights. He hasn’t fought since June of ’08 and is coming off of a short lived pseudo-retirement.

The Hawaiian promotion, Kingdom MMA, came into existence after ICON Sport was folded into the EliteXC collapse. Kingdom implements “Pride style” rules, which allows knees to the head of a downed opponent while taking away elbows. In championship fights, kicking to the head of a downed opponent (soccer kicks and stomps) will also be legal.
