Joe Stevenson and Diego Sanchez recently joined members of the media for a UFC 95 conference call. Joe Stevenson will fight Diego Sanchez in a main event lightweight match-up on Saturday, Feb. 21 in London England. The event will air in the U.S. free on SPIKE TV. Here is a transcript of that call:

Jennifer Wenk: Hi. Good morning. Sorry we’re getting a late start. We were – we have Joe Stevenson on the line here for you, one of the headliners for the UFC 95 event and we were hoping to have Diego Sanchez on this call as well. And as of now I have not been able to connect with him and we’re worried that it’s a cell phone issue. So hopefully he’ll be able to join us in progress.

Diego Sanchez finds truth in Dan Quinn’s Stevia campaign

Diego Sanchez becomes new spokesperson for Stevia

Dan Quinn has finally found a spokesperson for his ‘Stevia Saves the World’ campaign and who better to represent the idea of cold fusion in a blender than Diego Sanchez.

In a recent interview with Carson’s Corner, Diego talks about dropping to lightweight and getting ready for his first fight at the new weight class against Joe “Daddy” Stevenson. Joining Diego during the hour long audio interview is none other than the Sultan of Stevia himself, Dan Quinn. The two spend the hour answering questions from Bob Carson about everything from how Stevia cured a lump in Ali Sonoma’s breast to Dan Quinn wanting to chop someone’s penis in half.

It’s the most entertaining MMA-related interview in a long time and well worth the listen. Diego said he saw how passionate Dan was about Stevia and being the open-minded person he is, thought he would give it a try since he’s tried every other supplement under the sun. According to Diego, Stevia has given him a new level of energy and really made a difference in his move to lightweight. He is now a full on supporter of the herbal sweetener.

According to Demian Maia’s personal website, his next fight will be against Chael Sonnen at UFC 95, in London, England.

Sonnen’s most recent fight was a dominating performance over former WEC Middleweight Champion, Paulo Filho in November, that saw the Team Quest member avenge a previous loss to the Brazilian from 2007.

Sanchez may fight Stevenson

Diego Sanchez’s first venture into the lightweight division may pit him against another TUF winner. Sanchez has verbally agreed to face TUF season 2 winner, Joe “Daddy” Stevenson at UFC 95.

Sanchez informed the public via myspace that he would be dropping down to 155 earlier this month. “The Nightmare” dropped two straight decisions to American Kickboxing Academy welterweights, Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch back in 2007.

Stevenson’s most recent venture into the Octagon ended badly for the former title contender. Kenny Florian forced “Daddy” to tap out in the first round of their UFC 91 bout. Once at number one contender status, Stevenson has dropped two of his last three bouts.

Sanchez out – Koscheck vs. Alves at UFC 90

by:  Jack Bratcher

The last time we saw Diego Sanchez in the cage was back in June when he faced Luigi Fioravanti at the TUF 7 Finale. We saw in that fight continued proof that the “old” Diego was back. Sanchez fans became somewhat concerned after his lackluster performance against Josh Koscheck at UFC 69 and then again when he lost to Jon Fitch at UFC 76. Up until those fights, the pride of Albuquerque had not known defeat in his professional MMA career.

Both of Diego’s losses came in 2007; his only two fights that year. Maybe it had something to do with how the planets were aligned because as soon as 2008 rolled around we saw Diego’s impressive first round victory over UFC newcomer, David Bielkheden and then another win three months later with his TKO over Fioravanti. By all appearances the Zen master had returned.

Round 2 – Takedown by Riddle. Side control but backs out and throws some leg kicks. Rivera on his back…Rivera stands up. Clinched against the cage. Foot stomps by Riddle. Knees by Riddle. Big overhand left by Dante. Misses and Riddle gets a takedown. Full mount by Riddle, Dante reverses it and escapes. Dante is now on top in Riddle’s full gaurd. Elbows by Riddle from the bottom. Riddle looks good from the bottom looking for a triangle. Holy shit. Elbows by Riddle into Dante’s ribs, still in the triangle. Dante finally gets out as bell rings. Fucking aye that was great. Dante is the jiu-jitsu specialist so that was extra sweet for Riddle.
