With TUF Brasil set to premiere on March 9 on UFC Fight Pass in the U.S. and TV Glbot in Brazil, the UFC has released a teaser video showing coaches Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva about to throwdown on the set.

This also brings up an interesting point I’d like to make. Why is no one paying attention to the current season of The Ultimate Fighter, TUF Nations: Australia vs. Canada, airing in the U.S. on FOX Sports 1? Maybe the show is getting some hype in Australia and Canada, but more people are likely watching Happy Days reruns here in the U.S.

Now, I watched most of the last episode — and I watched the first couple episodes — and many of the fighters are interesting personalities and appear to be good fighters. But guess what… the coaches are not the type of personalities that are going to draw ratings.

It’s a pity they couldn’t show this TUF Brasil on FOX Sports 1 because Sonnen and Wandy are the type of personalities and they have the beef between them that creates drama — even the teaser video is more entertaining than most of what I’ve seen on TUF Nations. Patrick Cote is a nice guy I’m sure, as is Kyle Noke. But let’s be honest… they aren’t the type of personalities people are begging to watch. They’re no E.F. Hutton and let’s leave it at that.

When I think back on memorable TUF seasons the coaches played a big role. Here’s a few… Liddell vs. Couture, Evans vs. Jackson, Hughes vs. Serra, Lesnar vs. Dos Santos, Jones vs. Sonnen, Rousey vs. Tate. And now Cote vs. Noke? Just doesn’t have that same ring eh?

On a side note, let’s hope Wandy’s trash talk has improved a little since he made that kooky video last year calling out Sonnen.
