A new bout has been added to the UFC 163 card as Lyoto Machida (19-3) faces Phil Davis (11-1-1) in a light heavyweight battle. The event is set to take place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on August 3.

The fight was first reported by Brazilian website PortalDoValeTudo earlier today, and has since been reported by various other sources. UFC officials are yet to make a formal announcement.

UFC 163 will feature a headline bout between current UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and title challenger Anthony Pettis. The main card will air LIVE on PPV with the prelims expected to air on FX and Facebook.

Lyoto Machida is currently riding a two fight winning streak, most recently defeating Dan Henderson via split decision at UFC 157 in February. Prior to that he scored a second round KO victory over Ryan Bader at UFC on FOX 4 in August 2012. Machida hasn’t lost since UFC 140 in December 2011, where he was choked unconscious by UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, in round two of their title fight. Machida now has the chance to extend his winning streak to three with a good performance against Davis.

Phil Davis last fought at UFC 159 in April, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Vinny Magalhães. Prior to that he picked up a second round submission win over Wagner Prado in their rematch at UFC 153 in October 2012. That triumph followed a no contest against Prado due to an accidental eye poke at UFC on FOX 4 in August 2012. Davis will no doubt look to score an impressive win over Machida, which would elevate him into the mix at 205lb.
