A new fight has been added to the UFC 151 fight card, Dennis Siver (20-8) will face Eddie Yagin (16-5-1) in a featherweight matchup in September. The bout was first reported on on Swedish website MMAnytt.com and has also been reported by various other sources.
UFC 151 will take place on September 1st at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main event will feature a bout between the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Jon Jones who will be defending the title against MMA veteran and former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Dan Henderson.
German kickboxer Dennis Siver was last in action against Diego Nunes at the UFC on Fuel TV event that took place in Sweden earlier this year. Siver made his featherweight debut in the bout and won via unanimous decision. Prior to the Nunes fight, Siver lost against Donald Cerrone at UFC 137 via submission and could be what prompted the drop to a new weight class. Before losing to Cerrone the 33-year-old was on a good run having built up a four fight winning streak defeating Spencer Fisher, Andre Winner, George Sotiropoulos and Matt Wiman.
Eddie Yagin joined the Ultimate Fighting Championships in 2011 and had his debut fight at UFC 135 against Brazilian Junior Assunção. Yagin lost the fight via unanimous decision but still put on a respectable performance. In his most recent fight Yagin faced former title challenger Mark Hominick at UFC 145, winning via split decision in a bloody battle that earned “Fight of the Night” honors. If the Hawaiian can follow up his victory over Hominick with a solid performance against Siver it will really send a message to the featherweight division.
