On Thursday’s episode the guys welcomed as a guest the original pro MMA referee “Big” John McCarthy (interview starts at 8:50 mark).  “Big” John, who has a new book out entitled “Let’s Get It On!”, shared his thoughts on the Jon Jones-Rashad Evans beef and smack talk in MMA in general.

He told the story of a talk he had with Nick Diaz and Frank Shamrock before their fight about the rules of smack talk in the cage and what they were and were not allowed to do. “Big” John talked about his new book and why there were some stories he had to leave out. He also discussed the growth of MMA and why the UFC’s deal with FOX is such a monumental milestone.

He talked about his own popularity and the accessibility the general public has with the fighters and people involved in the MMA industry compared with other sports. “Big” John revealed the origins of his trademark catch phrase “Let’s get it on!” and also revealed the person he shares the trademark with.
