This was supposed to be Randy Couture’s last night in his historic career at UFC 129 as he took on former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.

It wasn’t his night though as Lyoto Machida used constant movement to stifle the attack of Couture. Couture was never able too firmly grasp Machida or close the distance effectively. Machida fed Couture a steady diet of knees to the body and straight lefts counters in the first round which Machida won fairly easily.

In the second round it was Machida with more movement and several feints that set up a jumping front kick(think Karate Kid) to Couture’s face that dropped “The Natural”. Couture went down from the kick and Machida followed, but it was already over at that point. Lyoto Machida knocks out Randy Couture in the second round.

Couture confirmed in the post-fight interview that this was indeed his last fight and the crowd gave him a great applause. Machida stops a two fight
