Former WEC Lightweight Champion Varner says he’ll KO
Cerrone on September 30,
TONIGHT on HDNet, Friday, July 23 at 9:00 p.m. ET

WHAT: On tonight’s “Inside MMA,” Jamie Varner joins the panel to discuss his long awaited re-match with Donald Cerrone at WEC 51 on September 30, 2010. The former champion didn’t mince words, predicting a knockout in a fight he says Cerrone “doesn’t deserve.”

Varner also tells the panel that he thinks interim belts are “fake” and insulting to the real champ. He feels that fighters should wait for a shot at the real title instead.

Also on the program, Guy Mezger, President of HDNet Fights and Strikeforce Heavyweight Shane Del Rosario discuss the recent $230 million dollar partnership between PUJI Capital and FEG – the parent company of K-1 and DREAM.

Mezger tells Kenny Rice and Bas Rutten that he feels this new partnership will help resurrect kick-boxing here in the U.S. and Del Rosario agrees, saying that the lack of money in kick-boxing is the reason he went to MMA fighting instead.

Plus, in the news cage, Ron Kruck reports that former Affliction fighter Josh Barnett is close to signing a deal with a major MMA promotion.
