UFC President Dana White could not be happier. UFC 116 lived up to all the hype and then some. Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was tested by challenger Shane Carwin in round one of their main event title bout, and for a moment it looked like the UFC may have a new champion. However, Lesnar recovered, came back and submitted Carwin in round two.

White was very proud of two of the promotion’s veterans, Chris Leben and Stephan Bonnar, both who came into the promotion from the original Ultimate Fighter and have had some ups and downs. They both performed spectacularly and both received “Fight of the Night” bonuses.

Next up for Lesnar is American Kickboxing Academy’s Cain Velasquez. White would like to get Lesnar back in the Octagon as soon as possible and plans to talk with the champ to try and set a date. Most likely though Lesnar is going to need some time to recoup after the war we saw Saturday night. He deserves a little R&R at this point, no doubt.
