We are PROMMA.INFO – Google’s number one source for professional mixed martial arts information. In staying true to our moniker and mission, from time-to-time we will be spotlighting various MMA organizations, fighters, and gyms from around the world.

In this segment we will take a look at Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW). In English, the name means “Martial Arts Confrontation.” Founded in 2004, KSW is Poland’s premiere MMA organization, and all but one of their events have been held in Warsaw. The majority of KSW evenst air live on various television networks throughout Europe.

The promotion is probably most known for its four and eight-man tournaments which take place over the course of one night. Notable names that have fought for KSW that many American fight fans will recognize include Jason Guida, Antonio Mendes, Jordan Radev, Peter Sobota, and Mamed Khalidov, to name a few.

One of Poland and KSW’s most successful mixed martial arts fighters is Mamed Khalidov. The 29-year-old Pole holds a pro record of 19-3-1. Khalidov’s most recent victory came against Pride veteran Daniel Acacio (19-8) back in May at KSW 11. Just over a minute into round one, Khalidov knocked Acacio unconscious, while at the same time boosting his knockout percentage to 42%.

Khalidov’s submission percentage is 53%, and his decision percentage 5%. In 23 fights, he won eight via (T)KO, ten via submission, and only once in his career has the fight gone to a decision.

Previously to Khalidov’s win over Acacio, he fought Jason Guida in the co-main event at the “ShoXC – Elite Challenger Series” on Oct. 10, 2008, in Hammond, Ind. With just seven seconds left in the second round, Khalidov finished Guida via (T)KO.

So far, Mamed Khalidov has only fought once in 2009 (he is usually much more active). However, that will change come Nov. 7. Stay tuned to PROMMA.INFO as we announce Khalidov’s next fight, which will be against Jorge Santiago at Sengoku 11.

Over the next couple of weeks we are going to be featuring at least one fight per day from the KSW promotion. Expand your MMA knowledge base and check back with us here each day to see the action. Trust me, if you are a fight fan, you will enjoy it.

KSW’s next event KSW XII will take place on Dec. 11, 2009, in Warsaw. It will be their fifteenth show and will be headlined by a superfight between 5-time World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski and pro boxer Marcin Najman. It will also feature an eight-man heavyweight tournament.
