Measuring the the significance of experience for a mixed martial artist is a tricky thing to do. When breaking down fights and analyzing match ups one factor that always gets noted is the number of fights and level of experience. Sometimes experience seems to help but many times talent reigns heavy on a fight.

Justin Davis must be confident or crazy. Davis has agreed on short notice to step up and fight Luis Santos this Friday at XFC 26. Davis is 13-11 and coming off back to back losses but a win over Santos could put him back on the right track. Davis is a Strikeforce veteran who has fought a who’s who in the world of mixed martial arts.
Injuries happen. Promoters, fighters and fans have all learned to accept this reality. But, what many people seem to forget is, fighters are also human, and a simple illness can sneak up on you at the worst possible time. Unfortunately for Strawweight Brianna Van Buren, this is the situation she finds herself in, just one week out from her nationally televised fight with Heather Jo Clark. Van Buren’s camp contacted the XFC early Tuesday morning to inform them of Brianna’s Flu like symptoms, and by late afternoon it was confirmed; Van Buren would not be cleared to compete at Night of Champions III on Oct 18th.
The country will get to see the likes of Scott Holtzman, Luis Santos and Pearl Gonzalez when XFC 26 “Night of Champions III” goes live on AXS TV October 18th but the people in the seats will be treated to some of the rising stars that Tennessee has to offer. John Prisco and company have assembled the preliminary bouts with exciting prospects that will get the crowd ready for the main card that culminates with Tennessee’s own Scott “Hot Sauce” Holtzman defending his XFC lightweight title.

Pearl will face Cortney Casey in the XFC flyweight title bout. One woman will leave the champion. Pearl has recently gotten married, switched camps and is ready for her return.
