Professional MMA fighter Ross Clifton has died

The sport of professional mixed martial arts lost another one of its own this past Friday when 32-year-old Ross “The Grizzly” Clifton passed away from an apparent heart attack. His wife had gone to bed and left him watching TV in the recliner Thursday evening at their home in Rancho Cordova, Calif., and when she woke up on the morning of Sept. 4, 2009, Clifton was deceased.

Clifton’s former trainer, UFC veteran Cal Worsham told MMAWeekly, “He was a jovial teddy bear inside of a grizzly’s body. He was just so funny and such a character in the way you’d never expect from a giant of a man like that. He’s absolutely going to be missed.”

Colusa, Calif. — Gladiator Challenge (GC), one of the longest-running MMA promotions in existence, proudly presents “Total Recall” on Friday, July 31st, live from the Colusa Casino Resort in Colusa, California.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with fights beginning at 8:00 p.m. GC has scheduled more than 10 action-packed bouts, including two Gladiator Challenge World title fights.

The main event pits Jeff Morris (6-5) against Steve Eldridge (1-1), in a bout that has Eldridge’s GC Middleweight World Title belt on the line. War Gods / Ken Shamrock – a friendly parting of the ways

PRO MMA ( has been informed by Ken Shamrock Promotions they will no longer be co-promoting and putting on cage fighting events together with the War Gods Promotion.

Each company has decided they need to focus their attention on other projects they have in the works according to a KSP press release.

Ken Shamrock Promotions is in negotiations with a reality television show and they are also in talks with an entertainment company interested in filming a docu/drama about the life of “The World’s Most Dangerous Man”.

Ken Shamrock tests positive for steroids

UFC hall of famer Ken Shamrock has tested positive for norandrosterone, noretiocholanolone and stanozolol, according to the California State Athletic Commission. The results are from a pre-fight drug test administered prior to his February 13th War Gods fight with Ross Clifton.

The failed drug test results in a year long suspension which will run nationwide until February 1st, 2010. The 45 year-old Shamrock, who was slated to face former pro wrestler Bobby Lashley on March 21st, will have a chance to appeal the decision.

Ken Shamrock responds to “work” allegations

Carson’s Corner host, Bob Carson, recently interviewed ‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’, Ken Shamrock, and asked him some tough questions. Carson did not pull a single punch as he went toe-to-toe with the legend on a number of issues, in particular the allegation that his most recent victory over Ross Clifton was a “work”.

Carson said that someone who knows Ken Shamrock and is from his area had informed him prior to Ken’s last bout the fight was going to be a “work”. This is VERY interesting since that is the EXACT impression many people had upon witnessing Shamrock’s first win in five years on Feb. 13th when he “defeated” the 360-pound Ross Clifton at WAR GODS, which incidentally is a promotion owned by Ken Shamrock himself.
