Thanksgiving night, ProMMA.info’s Brian Furby attended the sophomore show of one of Kentucky’s newest MMA promotions, Bleed Blue Brawl, in Lexington, Ky.

In spite of the show being scheduled on a holiday, a strong crowd came out to support some of the area’s top fighters. A number of area teams were represented including Reaction MMA and 4 Seasons. Special guest Shawn Thompkins was in the crowd and both Junie and Robbie Browning were seen in attendance as well.

Capped off with a Lightweight (amateur) title match between David Suter and Grady Self, the card featured a total of ten fights and one grappling match.

On October 31, 2009, ProMMA.info’s Brian Furby attended ICF 17 at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky. The ten-fight card was capped off by a pro match-up between Jim Davis and UFC veteran Dan Christison.

Russell Coonley vs. Drew Weaver (Team Nemesis) (145)

Round 1 – Weaver opens with a right hook, then a leg kick. Punches from Coonley fall out of range, and Weaver lands another good leg kick. There’s a flurry of punches and Weaver gets the better of the exchange. They circle and Weaver lands a good overhand right followed by a leg kick. Weaver lands a three punch combo and stuns Coonley, who is still standing, and lands a flurry of punches until the ref steps in to stop it. OFFICIAL RESULT: Drew Weaver wins via TKO (strikes) at 1:48 of Round 1.

Friday night, PROMMA.INFO’s Brian Furby attended the debut show of Spartan Fighting Championship, Kentucky’s newest MMA promotion, in Ashland, Ky. In spite of the late start time of 10:00 p.m., the SFC brought in a crowd of over 800 people, an excellent turnout for a debut show. Drawing from fight teams from Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia, the SFC gave fans seven amateur MMA bouts and three grappling matches.

Here are the results from Spartan Fighting Championship’s debut show:

  • Jermain Walker vs. Damon Chilco – Chilco wins via Unanimous Decision (30-27,29-28, 29-28)
  • Thomas Ulyenbroek vs. Jerry Beatty – Ulyenbroek wins via submission (armbar) in Round 2.
  • Ryan Crisp vs. Erik Mullins – Mullins wins via submission (guillotine) in Round 1.
  • Eric Jarvis vs. Chuck Caylor – Jarvis wins via TKO (strikes) in Round 1.

“Hardrock MMA 15” Results

On Oct. 17, 2009, PROMMA.INFO’s Brian Furby attended “Hardrock MMA 15” in Campbellsville, Ky., at the Campbellsville National Guard Armory. The card featured two grappling matches and six fights, topped off by an exciting main event pro match-up between Paul McEntee and Adam Perry.

On Saturday, PROMMA.INFO’s Brian Furby attended the “ICF 16: Resurrection” show at the ICF Fight Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. The ten-fight card was capped off by two professional fights – a catchweight match between George Oiler and Brandon Howard, and an ICF Lightweight Title match between Team Xtreme’s Chad Hinton and Justin Moore from 4 Seasons.
