UFC Gym in Concord to host Grand Opening this Saturday – full schedule of activities

Concord, Calif. (USA) – In what is shaping up to be a can’t-miss event for fitness enthusiasts and mixed martial arts fans alike, the first ever UFC® GYMTM will host its official Grand Opening this Saturday at 10AM PST. The flagship facility, which is located on 1975 Diamond Boulevard in Concord, will feature a star-studded lineup at the Grand Opening, including UFC President Dana White, UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, as well as New Evolution Fitness Company (NEFC) founders and UFC Gym partners Mark Mastrov and Jim Rowley.

The Grand Opening will be preceded by a press conference at 9:30AM for media, as well as select members of the UFC Fight Club. Following the press conference, UFC Gym will be loaded with a day full of special demonstrations and autograph sessions featuring UFC fighters, as well as giveaways including UFC Gym prize packages and a trip to UFC 109.

UFC Gym holds ceremonial Grand Opening Saturday, Jan. 23

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – The countdown is on for the ceremonial grand opening for the brand new state-of-the-art UFC Gym – just eight days until UFC President Dana White, New Evolution Fitness Company (NEFC) Founder Mark Mastrov and NEFC CEO and Co-Founder Jim Rowley, along with UFC Legend Chuck Liddell, UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn and a host of other UFC stars will officially open the doors to the brand new 38,000 square foot facility in Concord, California.

The UFC Gym grand opening celebration will be a day-long event filled with autograph signings, exhibitions, meet and greets, and other activities to be announced.

A formal press conference will kick-off the grand opening and will start at 10am PT. Media are requested to save the date. Photographs, video interviews, one-on-one interviews, tours of the gym will be made available.

Ryan Bastianelli to fight at Fight Quest: Battle Grounds on Jan. 31st in Bakersfield

“Relentless” Ryan Bastianelli (3-0) has signed to fight on the FIGHT QUEST:  BATTLE GROUNDS January 31st card at the Bakersfield Dome in Bakersfield, California.

Bastianelli will be fighting at a catch weight of 150 pounds. The Concord resident who fights at the 135 pound limit does not believe the jump in weight will be be a factor in the fight.

“I’ve fought at 150 before and felt strong. I train with bigger guys, so it shouldn’t be a problem.”

The Arizona State wrestling product believes he has the strength to hang with the lightweights and points to his previous opponents as proof.

Monson defeats Kerr at Vengeance Fighting Championship in North Carolina

Vengeance Fighting Championship took place last night, September 27th at the Cabarrus Arena in Concord, NC. It was a great night of fights displaying some of the MMA talent from the eastern and southeastern U.S.. The night consisted of both amateur and professional bouts and in the main event, North Carolina’s MMA fans got to wtiness two UFC/PRIDE veterans go at it. Here’s how the fights went down:

AMATEUR FIGHTS

Nick “The Brick” Blake vs. Patrick Needham(145lbs)
Rd.1 – Blake takes Needham’s back and sinks in the hooks. Blake gets a takedown but Needham is able to get back to his feet. Blake is able to drag him back down, takes his back quickly and locks in a rear naked choke with no hooks in. Needham taps. Nick “The Brick” Blake defeats Patrick Needham by rear naked choke submission in Round 1.
