Former featherweight number one contender Chad Mendes was scheduled to take on Manny Gamburyan at UFC 157 next week, but Gamburyan had to withdraw from the bout due to injury. Mendes was pulled from the card because no fighters were willing to take the fight on such short notice. However, Mendes will now take on Clay Guida at the UFC on FOX 7 event that’s set for April at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

To represent his team, Jones selects 30-year-old Gilbert Smith (5-1) of Colorado Springs, Colo. to take on 24-year-old Luke Barnatt (5-0) of Cambridge, England.
It’s a bit of an odd match-up and weird pick from Coach Jones because of the significant height advantage the 6-foot-4-inch Barnatt has over the 5-foot-9-inch Smith.
