When he spoke to ESPN earlier on this week, Mayweather stated, in a matter-of-fact manner, what everyone knows to be true. The event between Mayweather and Conor McGregor, star of the UFC, scheduled to take place inside the T-Mobile Arena on the 26th of August is going to leave them both very satisfied no matter what the outcome.

A Billion Dollar Fight Lined Up

Mayweather stated that, as of the 26th, he, McGregor, the UFC, and Showtime would be the happiest people on earth, thanks to the fight’s billion dollar status.  While Mayweather is the odds-on favourite, there are a number of people around the world that feel that McGregor will not necessarily go gentle into that good night…

Mayweather Promises to Please Fans

As far as the public are concerned, with viewers either paying US$99.99 to watch the fight from their homes, or massing into the arena to watch boxing history take place, Mayweather has promised he will be aware of them as the drama unfolds. With 49 wins and 26 knockouts to his name over the course of his career, Mayweather feels that he is in debt to fans after the dud that the 2015 Manny Pacquiao fight turned out to be.

Mayweather will Ensure a Show

Mayweather, who has stated that there is no doubt that his will be his last fight, acknowledged that this is the first time in his life that he has felt not only pressure to win, but compelled to meet the demand that spectators have for a show.

He went on to say that he fully intends to give the fans and betting sites what they are looking for, and announced that he concedes with McGregor that the fight will not go past four rounds. His goal, he says, is to win, and he intends to do so by knockout, as does McGregor.

Mayweather Willing to Give McGregor Credit

McGregor, who has never boxed in any sort of professional setting, can be seen as winning, according to McGregor, if he even lasts 12 rounds with an athlete who many consider to be the finest boxer in the history of the sport.

This is More than a Fight

Mayweather, at 40-years of age, has not been able to manage a KO in his last seven fights, and his most recent was one against Ortiz in September of 2011. This one, however, came about under strange circumstances: Ortiz was looking away, at the ref, when it landed.

For what it is worth, Mayweather has said that he intends to ensure that the viewing public get just what they’ve paid for this time around. He stated that this was no longer just a fight. Thanks to its magnitude, it had become an event, and a billion-dollar one at that. He says that both he and McGregor feel that the fans were owed a show and that excitement, come fight night, was a guarantee.
