Hot on the heels of a first-round finish in the main event of Valor 42, hot Tennessee prospect Steven Haag is back in the cage on short notice, taking on Ken Beverly at Warrior FC vs. Valor Fights: Border Wars on May 6 in Corbin, Ky., LIVE on FloCombat. Before then, the man fans call “Smooth” checks in with ProMMANow.

How do you feel about your last fight?

I’m happy. Going into it, I was expecting a really tough fight. Thankfully I found an opening early and went for it. I like to put on a show, but you can’t beat a first-round finish like that, especially at home in the main event.

Why are you back in the cage so soon?

It’s a very good opportunity for me. I told (Valor Fights President Tim Loy) that I wanted this fight if there was an injury. That’s what happened, and things just fell into place. I’m ready.

How excited are you to be back in the cage?

Oh, I’m very excited to go back in there and show what I can do. Very excited.

What will this win mean for your career?

Every win I can is hugely helpful for my career. My opponent is a good wrestler, so a win over him would just be wonderful.

What are your plans for the rest of 2017?

I just want to keep on fighting, keep on improving and keep on winning.
