The UFC Fight Night Boston event took place on Sunday night with the UFC bantamweight title on the line. TJ Dillashaw looked to defend his title against former UFC champion Dominick Cruz in the main event. Cruz never lost the title, but was stripped due to injuries and had been out of action for the majority of the last four years due to injuries. Dillashaw defeated Renan Barao(twice) via TKO who had become the champion in the absence of Cruz. So the bout Sunday night was really about becoming the undisputed champion.

The bout was extremely competitive, but certainly didn’t settle the undisputed champion problem due to another bout to inept MMA judging. The judges awarded Dominick Cruz a split decision win by scores of (49-46, 48-47, 46-49).

Personally, I thought Dillashaw won the fight 48-47(winning rounds 1, 4, and 5). Did UFC President Dana White have Dillashaw retaining the title? Check the video below:

I thought Cruz danced a little too much, focusing on trying to make Dillashaw miss instead of being offensive the majority of the time. Dillashaw definitely was the busier fighter and landed the heavier strikes. Cruz did get some takedowns, but he didn’t nothing with them as Dillashaw almost immediately got back to his feet each time.

I don’t think it was a robbery decision, but a judge giving Cruz four rounds to one is absurd in my opinion. I saw some scores for Cruz among folk on Twitter too.

How’d you score the bout?
