This is the final Friday Night SmackDown before it moves to Thursdays starting next week, January 15. This show was taped Tuesday at Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas. The Authority’s golden boy, Seth Rollins, will kick of tonight’s episode. We’ll also see a triple threat tag team championship match with The Usos vs. Miz, Mizdow vs. Gold & Stardust. We’ll see the drama between Big Show and Roman Reigns continue to unfold. There will also be a new WWE Superstar announced as a participant in the upcoming 2015 Royal Rumble match. After Naomi was attacked by Alicia Fox backstage on Raw, Naomi will get the chance to settle the score tonight. Seth Rollins opens the show and announces the HW championship match at Royal Rumble will be a triple threat match with Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena. Rollins asks to toll the bell in remembrance of Ryback, Ziggler and Rowan. As the bell starts to sound, Roman Reigns walks out. Rollins is accompanied by Mercury and Noble. Reigns cleans house and runs all three of them off. But as they’re about to go backstage, Big Show and Kane come out. Kane announces Reigns will face Rollins and Big Show tonight, and he can have a partner if he can find one — keeping in mind what happened when Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan went up against the Authority.
WWE SMACKDOWN 1/9/15 MATCH RESULTS:
- ADAM ROSE VS. BIG E –Big E hits a counter off the ropes and drops Rose on his face, then the pin.
- THE ASCENSION VS. LOCAL TAG TEAM — The Ascension smashes the tomato cans
- ALICIA FOX VS. NAOMI — Alicia uses the ropes for leverage to get the pin. Ref doesn’t see it.
- THE USOS VS. MIZ, MIZDOW VS. GOLD & STARDUST (TRIPLE THREAT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP) — Jimmy off the top rope splashes onto Goldust, then the pin.
- SIN CARA VS. BAD NEWS BARRET — Sin Cara flips off the ropes on top of Barret, then the pin. Barrett attacks him from behind outside the ring after the match. Drags him back in the ring and smashes him with a Bullhammer.
- SETH ROLLINS, BIG SHOW VS. ROMAN REIGNS, DEAN AMBROSE –Authority didn’t think anyone would team up with Reigns but Ambrose comes out to tag team with him. Reigns ends up spearing Rollins for the pin.
