DUSTIN ORTIZ INTERIVEWNo. 12 ranked UFC flyweight Dustin Ortiz will get his shot at two-time title contender Joseph Benavidez on Nov. 22 at UFC Fight Night 57 in Austin, Texas. UFC officials announced the bout on Tuesday.

Benavidez (20-4) is currently ranked no. 2 in the division and is coming off a first round submission win over Tim Elliott at UFC 172 in April. Just prior to that, this past December, he lost a shot at the UFC’s 125-pound title against champion Demetrious Johnson (20-2-1) for a second time.

Ortiz (14-3) has less experience against the top tier of the division but has put together a 3-1 run inside the Octagon thus far. Since stopping Jose Maria Tome via TKO in his UFC debut in Nov. 2013, Ortiz has also won decisions over Ray Borg in April of this year, and Justin Scoggins in July.

Ortiz’s lone UFC loss came back in January when he dropped a close split decision to former title-challenger John Moraga (14-3), who is currently ranked no. 5.

Aside from Benavidez vs. Ortiz, a women’s strawweight match-up between Paige VanZant and Kailin Curran has also been announced for UFC Fight Night 57. Stay tuned for more additions to this card.
