UFC officials have announced that light heavyweight fighter Anthony Johnson will return to the cage on July 26 to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at the UFC on FOX 12 event. The event will take in San Jose, California, with more fights being added to the event soon.
Johnson (17-4) is coming off a big upset unanimous decision win over top five ranked Phil Davis at UFC 172. It was Johnson’s first fight in the UFC since his UFC 142 loss to Vitor Belfort in 2012. Johnson won six consecutive fights outside of the UFC before his last bout.
Nogueria (21-5) is coming off a year and a half layoff due to a back injury. However, he was victorious over a high ranked light heavyweight in his last bout as well, besting former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans via unanimous decision at UFC 156.
