[ads2]jon jones ufc 159UFC officials have officially announced the next title defense for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (18-1). He’ll look to defend his title against Alexander Gustafsson (15-1) at UFC 165 on September 21 in Toronto.

This will be the third time that Jones has defended his title in Toronto after previously defeating Lyoto Machida at UFC 140 and Vitor Belfort at UFC 152. Jones last defended his title by stopping Chael Sonnen via first round TKO at UFC 159 in April. The champ suffered a dislocated big toe, but looks to be primed and ready for action when September rolls around.

Gustafsson has been out of action since defeating former UFC champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at the UFC on FOX 5 event in December. He was supposed to face Gegard Mousasi at the UFC on FUEL TV 9 event, but was pulled after suffering a facial cut during his training camp.

This is a bout that’s been brewing for a while now. Jones stated that he wanted to fight Gustafsson next after defeating Sonnen at UFC 159, citing Gustafsson’s size and striking ability as a nice challenge.
