Bellator 89Bellator MMA 89 takes place this evening at The Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C. and features a Bantamweight Title Fight between Eduardo Dantas and Marcos Galvao, as well as the start of the Season 8 Middleweight Tournament.

The first preliminary card bout for Bellator MMA 89 kicks off at 8 p.m. EST and will stream LIVE on Spike.com. The televised portion of the card will begin at 10 p.m. EST and will air LIVE on Spike TV. ProMMAnow.com will provide LIVE results and play-by-play commentary during the fights.

Doug Marshall vs. Andreas Spang

Round 1 – Marshall leg kick. Again, and Spang fires back with punches. Left hook from Marshall. One two from Spang as Marshall covers up. Marshall slips to the ground but Spang lets him up. Thai plum and a right h and from Marshall. Lands a right, left, clinch and knee to body from Marshall. Spang looked rocked for a second. Left hook from Spang, clinch against the cage. Knee from Spang to the body. He turns Marshall to the cage. Knee, ref separates them. Two nice rights from Marshall as they unload in the pocket. Brief clinch and knee from Spang. Right from Spang and Marshall counters with a big right hook, Spang goes down, Marshall throws up his hands and walks away with a one punch knockout even before the ref steps in. Enormous shot that spun Spang all the way around. He woke up upon impact but he was done.

Brett Cooper vs. Norman Paraisy

Round 1 – Leg kick from Paraisy, leg kick Cooper inside. Cooper shoots and Paraisy defends. Clinch, body kick from Paraisy. Cooper checks a leg kick then puts Paraisy down but he pops right up. Cooper goes for a single, Paraisey defends, lands a knee to the body. Paraisy swings but Cooper gets the takedown. Paraisy gets up, lands a few knees and a big left hand that stuns Cooper. Cooper drops levels for the takedown attempt but Paraisy defends, clinched, knee from Paraisy, Cooper drops levels and picks Paraisy up for a big slam, lands on the back of his head. He gets up, eats some punches on the way up. Paraisy swings, Cooper clinches. Paraisy drops levels for his own takedown. Cooper gets right up, presses Paraisy to the cage. Cooper with another takedown. 30 seconds to go, Cooper on top in half guard. PMN sees it 10-9 Cooper.

Round 2 – Paraisy comes out swinging, Cooper blocks, then lands a couple punches and a big uppercut that drops Paraisy. He’s hurt but makes his way up. Cooper puts him down, takes side control, looks to mount but Paraisy covers up and rolls over. Cooper puts him on his back, now in half guard and landing punches as Paraisy tries to makes his way up. Paraisy gets to his knees, then feet. Cooper presses him to cage, grabs a single, lets it go as Paraisy defends. Half the round down. Cooper drops levels and gets him down yet again and begins with short left punches. Cooper on top in half guard. Paraisy gets to his knees and then feet, just in time to get picked up over Paraisy’s head for a huge slam. Paraisy on top in half guard landing the ground and pound. Under a minute to go. Cooper working the ground and pound. Paraisy gets to his knees, then feet and gets his own takedown before the bell. PMN has it 10-9 Cooper.

Round 3 – Right hand from Cooper, uppercut. Front kick from Paraisy. Cooper with a big takedown, takes top control in half guard. Cooper stands up and lands a punch as Paraisy makes his way up. Another slam from Cooper but Paraisy gets back up. Paraisy shoots and gets another big takedown. Wow, over and over. Paraisy gets up yet again, but Cooper pulls him back down, landing body shots. Paraisy back to his feet. Cooper backs up, moves in for an uppercut, picks Paraisy up for one more big slam. Paraisy gets to his knees. Cooper landing hammerfists and short punches to the side of the head. Paraisy tries to get up but Cooper flattens him on his back and keeps busy with punches. Paraisy gets to his knees. Cooper takes his back with both hooks in. Paraisy sweeps and has top control for first time in the fight. Cooper gets to his feet though, drops levels and picks Cooper up for yet another takedown. Both guys work with punches as Cooper is inside Paraisy’s full guard.  PMN has it 10-9 and 30-27 for Cooper.

Dan Cramer vs. Brian Rogers

Round 1 – Big punches from both, Thai clinch from Cramer, knee, but he gets thrown by Rogers who lands in side control. Cramer sweeps takes top position in half guard. Drops a couple shots before Rogers gets to his butt with back to the cage. Cramer trying to keep him down as Rogers gets closed guard. Rogers gets up, eats an uppercut, clinched. Cramer gets the takedown, on top in half guard. Rogers recovers full guard, throws up his legs, then explodes to his feet. Great lead right hand from Cramer. Leg kick from Rogers. Right hook from Cramer. Right, left from Cramer. One minute to go. Leg kick from Rogers. Again, inside. Cramer grabs a Thai clinch and Rogers unloads on his body and an uppercut. Cramer complains of an eye poke. Rogers slips on a body kick, gets up as Cramer presses him to the cage with a body lock from the back. Rogers turns around and they have a big exchange with Rogers scoring an uppercut. Close round. PMN sees it 10-9 for Cramer.

Round 2 – Punch exchange, body lock and belly to belly suplex from Rogers. Rogers unloads with ground and pound.  Ref gives them a very quick stand up. Punch exchange. Right lands for Cramer. Inside leg kick from Rogers. Body lock and belly to belly suplex again. Rogers lands a couple shots and lets Cramer up. Big takedown from Cramer. Rogers gets up, body shot, uppercut. Right from Cramer. They square up. Great matchup here. Cramer tries to come inside. Rogers unloads with big shots but nothing lands solid. Cramer scores a takedown as Rogers tries to set up another suplex. Cramer on top in half guard. Gets to side control. Goes to mount, but Rogers immediately recovers guard. Cramer in half guard, landing some ground and pound. Rogers gets up. Right hand, more big shots from Rogers. Nice straight right from Cramer. Close round but I have it for Rogers 10-9.

Round 3 – Both guys are hungry for this win. Brief Thai clinch, knee attempt from Cramer. Right hand from Cramer. Cramer swings, clinches, knee from Rogers. Knees to thigh from Cramer. Rogers goes for the throw. Brief scramble to the feet. Right from Rogers. Cramer with a short uppercut, right hand, clinch, knee from Cramer. Thai clinch from Cramer. Rogers misses a huge uppercut. Body kick, two nice rights from Rogers. Thai clinch, knee from Cramer to the face drops Rogers. Cramer lays on top in half guard dropping hammerfists and ground and pound. Cramer moves to side control. Full mount. Rogers would have exploded out of this, and did, one round ago. And he does it again. He’s up and unloads a big knee, two big right hands hurt Cramer. One minute to go. Cramer goes for the takedown, Rogers ends up on top. Cramer gets up, clinched. Cramer with the trip takedown in half guard on top now. That might have just won it for Cramer. Rogers tries to escape but Cramer holds him down. So close, so so close. I really don’t know who to give it to. I’m going to have to give it to Cramer because he actually dropped Rogers in that last round. Rogers came back and hurt him with punches but Cramer stood firm and ended the round on top. Amazing fight though and if Rogers gets it that’s great too and would not argue. PMN sees it 10-9 and 29-28 for Cramer.

Eduardo Dantas vs. Marcos Galvao

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Leg kick from Dantas. Body shot Galvao, leg kick. Leg kick Dantas. Jab from Dantas. Leg kick inside, again. Jab, jab. Galvao looking for an opening. Big leg kick from Galvao. Hook, leg kick from Dantas. Jab from Galvao. Let hook. Jab from Dantas. Again. Big kick from Dantas, slips, Galvao rushes him and grabs a body lock from behind. Knee from Galvao. Picks Galvao up for a takedown but Dantas never really goes down and is back on his feet. Galvao with knees from the body lock, trying to drag Dantas down but he’s defending well. Ref wants action. Dantas turns around. They square up. Left hook from Dantas stuns Galvao, front kick to face, jab to stomach, jab to face. One two from Dantas. Galvao pressing forward but Dantas lands a big clubbing right that knocks Galvao off balance. Right hand from Galvao. PMN sees it 10-9 for Dantas.

Round 2 – Leg kick Dantas. Jab. Leg kick fro Galvao, leg kick front kick from Dantas. Galvao with a right.  Again. One two from Dantas. Galvao counters sloppily. Leg kick from each. Galvao with another. Nice hard jab from Dantas. Big leg kick from Galvao. Dantas unloading with front kicks and leg kicks. Galvao stalking. Huge left head kick hurts Galvao, he comes back swinging heavy. Front kick from Dantas. Galvao plodding. Leg kick. One two, body kick from Dantas. Spinning back kick from Dantas, big punch exchange topped off with an uppercut catches Galvao ducking down and Galvao falls flat to his back. Dantas follows up with hammerfists and the champ lays him out. Bittersweet win for Dantas as he takes out his teacher.
