UFC officials have announced that Wanderlei Silva will return to action to take on Brian Stann as the main event of the UFC on FUEL TV 8 event.

The event is set to take place March 3 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The card will air live in North America on March 2 due to the difference in time zone. The same venue hosted the UFC’s most recent tripto Japan, UFC 144 in February.

Silva (43-12-1, 1 NC) hasn’t fought since losing a unanimous decision against Rich Franklin at UFC 147 in June. Silva was one of PRIDE FC’s biggest superstars in his prime, and hasn’t fought in Japan since his KO loss against Mirko Cro Cop in the PRIDE Open Weight GP semifinal.

Stann hasn’t fought since losing a unanimous decision against Michael Bisping at UFC 152 in September. Stann is (4-2) since making the drop down to the middleweight division after fighting exclusively as a light heavyweight.

Also, seven additional fights have been announced by the promotion. They can be found below:

  • Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve
  • Takanori Gomi vs. Diego Sanchez
  • Dong Hyun Kim vs. Siyar Bahadurzada
  • Riki Fukuda  vs. Brad Tavares
