UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve won his fourth consecutive fight on Saturday night with a upset TKO win over previously undefeated Stipe Miocic at the UFC on FUEL TV 5 event in Nottingham, England. He has been very impressive, defeating all four of his opponents via stoppage(two submissions and two TKO/KO wins).
UFC President Dana White stated that he believed that Struve was definitely a top 10 heavyweight with the win over Miocic on Saturday night.
Not so fast my friend.
Struve has been pretty impressive in his last four fights, but he hasn’t beaten anyone that’s near top 10 in the world. In fact, the two guys he has fought that are near or just inside the top 10, both knocked Struve out in the very first round. Those two fighters are Roy Nelson and Travis Browne.
The UFC record of the last four fighters that Struve has defeated is (10-9). So while winning four consecutive fights in the UFC is impressive, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you should be a ranked fighter.
Struve called out Fabricio Werdum at the UFC on FUEL TV 5 post-fight press conference. ProMMAnow has Werdum ranked as the number four heavyweight in the world.
Do you think Struve has earned the right to fight someone ranked that high when he has gotten destroyed in two previous outings against good competition?

Yes, Struve deserves a step up in competition. He’s won not only 4 straight, but 6 out of his last 7. The writer of the article mentions that the combined UFC record of Struve’s last 4 opponents is 10-9, but if you take away the 4 losses that Struve himself caused, then his last 4 opponents are a very respectable 10-4 combined in the Octagon. He’s definitely in the top 10, maybe as high as 7. I’d love to see him fight Mir or Werdum.
He’s not top ten..he hasn’t beaten anyone near the top ten…and you can’t take the losses away because they happened…lol…and the two times he fought decent comp…he got knocked out in the first round….he can’t be ranked higher than Travis Browne…when Browne hasn’t lost since he knocked Struve out…so if you think Struve is as high as 7…then Browne is like top 5? Come on now….
