Today Strikeforce officials announced a light heavyweight matchup between Ovince St. Preux (11-5) and T.J. Cook (12-4). The two men are set to face off at the ‘Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman’ event in August.

The event is scheduled to take place on August 18th at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. The headline fight on the night will see Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey defend her title against Sarah Kaufman. The main card for the event will air on Showtime with the prelims airing on Showtime Extreme.

Ovince St. Preux enters this fight coming off a decision loss to Gegard Mousasi at the ‘Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal’ event in December 2011. Prior to that loss, St. Preux had built up an eight fight winning streak defeating notable fighters such as Antwain Britt, Benji Radach, and Abongo Humphrey. Impressively, each one of those victories took place within the space of two months proving that Ovince is no slouch.

T.J. Cook also enters the bout coming off a loss as he was defeated by Trevor Smith who won via submission at Strikeforce Challengers 20 in November 2011. Before that loss Cook had built up a five fight winning streak, four of those victories were picked up on the regional circuit before Cook made his Strikeforce debut with a knockout win over Lionel Lanham at Strikeforce Challengers 17.
